Would TIE/Ds see more play if...

I've tried this (ion, flechette and tractor beam in my case). The problem is the enemy is often bothered particularly by one cannon and that defender dies first. It can work but running 3 low PS jousters is pretty rough if the enemy has reposition. Gotta get your blocks just right.

They just need to add a Hull to the TIE/D title and it will be fine, then the cost offset is worth it.

It is good as others have suggested, it just isn't insane like the rest of the meta. Also to get a reasonable named pilot TIE/D is super expensive, and unlike the Rebel points fortresses there is no regen.

I mean, it'd certainly see more play if it were cheaper, or allowed Guidance Chips on the cannon, or worked with missiles 3-points and under (which includes both Proton Rockets and Cruise Missiles, so that gets gross fast).

But does it need those buffs to see play? I don't know. At a store championship, my Miranda got absolutely wrecked by an Expertise Rexler Brath with Tractor Beam, flown along side a shield-stripping Pure Sabaac with VI and a support Tomax Bren. I've been thinking a bunch about flying a squad with 2x Delta + Ion, and an Intensity /x7 Countess. Delta Ions will shred things with low agility.

I took a similar squad to the Euros, with Maarek Stele instead of Countess, with the same theory; Ion Cannons are low PS ships' worst enemy, and between Miranda, Norra, the Ghost, Decimators etc I was expecting to see a lot of them.

The only games I won were against x7 Defenders. Go figure.

I'm waiting to see the cost of the middle PS Gunboat generics so I can run a TIE/D Tractor beam Vessery with some Plasma/Cruise Gunboat escorts.

Reduced/threat of reducing agility or taking two huge hits from GLORIOUS GUNBOATS who can just zoom past and reload their shots? Yes plz.

Expertise Defenders are no joke.

My son has been flying VI Ryad and two Delta Ions since the release of Veterans with great success. Intensity should be a good fit for Ryad.
