So I'm looking at the preview of this game, I'm thinking about snagging it for xbox one. Has anyone played it? The controls seem like what Armada would/could use in 3D space.

Based on what I've seen, you're spot on. I haven't played it either, but the same devs are making a similar game b/w a Battlestar Galactica setting called BSG Deadlock, which I probably will get. It comes out in a week I think.
