Partner for intensity poe

By kewlguy360, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I've been toying around with intensity poe for a while and I've played him with miranda and nym, but now I'm curious as to how the falcon would hold up.

So the dilemma is which falcon load out would be better as a wing man for intensity poe

Han Solo (old)

title(evade)

c3po

gunner

engine upgrade

adapdablilty

59 points

Ps 10 for nym with repositioning, consistent damage with gunner, take an evade every round.

or

Han Solo(old)

Title(evade)

c3po

rey

lone wolf

engine upgrade

58 points for a bid but dropping locks on han would negate lone wolf and no ps 10. No gunner either, but rey adds more consistent damage output.

Suggestions?

The problem with your first Han is that if he evades every round his damage output is actually not that consistent, because you only have your rolls and re-rolls as attack modifiers, which means you're totally depent on luck. That's why it's better to run Expertise instead of Adaptability, although you are lacking points... you could dial it down to Chewie, but you lose initiative bid:

Chewbacca (42)
Expertise (4)
C-3PO (3)
Gunner (5)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Millennium Falcon (1)

Total: 59

If you want a bid and Chewie here's another one who might have a harder time dealing damage to tokened ships but defends it self a bit better, since at PS 5 I'm not sure if he can arc dodge that well with EU:

Chewbacca (42)
Lone Wolf (2)
Rey (2)
C-3PO (3)
Scavenger Crane (2)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
Countermeasures (3)
Millennium Falcon (1)

Total: 55

I've also seen this Poe:

Poe Dameron (PS9) (33)
Intensity (2)
BB-8 (2)
Primed Thrusters (1)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)

Total: 41

Which is the one I assume you are using, being partnered with this Rey:

Rey (45)
Expertise (4)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Finn (5)
Millennium Falcon (TFA) (1)

Total: 58

Although he's not a Falcon, a good partner might also be Dash, either Light or Super:

Dash Rendar (36)
Push the Limit (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Outrider (5)

Total: 58

Or

Dash Rendar (36)
Lone Wolf (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Rey (2)
Countermeasures (3)
Outrider (5)

Total: 55

I would advise Light Dash over Super Dash, it's harder to fly but right now it's a lot better though to it's capability to defend himself better and it leaves you 4 point bid, which you could leave or add something else.

Hope this helps, sorry for the long post.

Nym could also do good work next to PoeTensity:

POENYMSITY

95 points

PILOTS

Captain Nym (49)
Scurrg H-6 Bomber (30), Veteran Instincts (1), Cruise Missiles (3), Ion Cannon Turret (5), Bomblet Generator (3), Havoc (0), Engine Upgrade (4), Advanced Sensors (3), “Genius” (0)

Poe Dameron (PS9 Version) (46)
T-70 X-Wing (33), Black One (1), BB-8 (2), Proton Torpedoes (4), Pattern Analyzer (2), Intensity (2), Autothrusters (2)

===========

Obviously the points are there to use TLT if you prefer. Poe could also take Adv Proton Torps.

Quick and dirty as I'm supposed to be doing work - Nym or Miranda seem awesome:

T-70 X-Wing: · Poe Dameron (33)
Intensity (Exhausted) (2)
· R2-D2 (4)
Autothrusters (2)
· Black One (1)
Comm Relay (3)

And...
K-Wing: · Miranda Doni (29)
Extra Munitions (2)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Proton Bombs (5)
Cluster Mines (4)
Advanced SLAM (2)
· Sabine Wren (2)

Or

Scurrg H-6 Bomber: · Captain Nym (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Cruise Missiles (3)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
· Bomblet Generator (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
· Havoc (0)
Advanced Sensors (3)
· "Genius" (0)

I like the second Han build, except maybe cut Engine Upgrade. In terms of just offense and defense, it's pretty similar to the older fat Han builds, but with less menueverabilty due to no EU. It's basically the DISTRACTION CARNIFEX tactic from 40k ported to xwing. The idea is that you have a big, scary ship that do a lot of damage and take a lot of damage ( Han), so a more fragile ship he less fire directed at it. It works because Han can easil weather 2-3 turns of focused fire from an entire squad, probably taking one ship down with him. Then, They're left dealing with the late game arc-dodging, regenerating monster that is Poe.
