Harpooned Ruthlessness for a dark time.....?

Again, I get Harpoon missiles. They are a good missile in general and have the added bonus against swarm type lists. Definitely useful.

But Ruthlessness. Yes, it can be used against swarms to splash a little bit of extra damage. But against 2 ship lists (which are still super common), it's pretty much worthless. It has a good chance of doing more damage to yourself than to your opponent. That's not a good use of 3 points and an EPT slot.

QFT. Harpoons alone should be enough to wipe Biggs-blob lists out of the competitive meta and they're good enough otherwise to hold their own against other lists. Ruthlessness is a serious case of overkill here, that in many matchups will be dead points at best and cause self-harm at worst.

As for harpoon carriers - I have a soft spot for Vader. High PS, ability to lock a target and get focus in a single turn, extra bonus if you don't have to spend the target lock, pretty decent survivability with Palp and a very open dial combined with double repositioning to deal with all the nasty bomblets being dropped left and right these days. He's only good if you like to be sneaky though. If you prefer in-your-face approach, QD is your man.

That's your meta, that's not necessarily the op's. There will be places where the majority of players will simply blindly copy paste the number 1 meta wing list, regardless of what else is on it....

I don't get it. No one uses Ruthlessness. For a reason.

Why would it be good with Harpoon Missiles?

It's been a long work week, I'm exhausted. "Waiter, I'll have what @MrAndersson is having."

Everyone has probably already noticed this, but i just realised that harpoon doesn't state ''friendly'' ships, just ''each other ship''...so the harpooned ship could turn into a kamikaze and stick itself amongst your ships at r1, forcing you to either inflict splash damage on yourself, or not attack that ship

Very true, but who cares really. It's only one damage. The draw back is minimal compared to the amount of damage you can put out with it. Plus forcing them to use their next action to remove it.

I cared yesterday when I proxied the card. First I cheered because I rolled a crit. Then I cursed because my own ship was in range 1...

Well true. On your A-wings 1 damage is a lot :)
