The Star Wars Show says available in early 2018

By Mep, in Star Wars: Legion

Why do we need manufactured geeks to tell us this when the information has been available on this site from the beginning?

The title card in the GenCon display case said Q1.

Why do you think they are "manufactured geeks"? Listen to some of their interviews, they are really into Star Wars. It would be weird if they were not. I mean, I don't lucasfilm would have any trouble finding qualified geeks to host the show.

Also, there was some confusion because one of the pages on ffg's site said quarter 4 2017 (it has been corrected) and the designer said the same (he misspoke or was just misinformed or something)

They aren't manufactured. They do seem to be rather chemically induced at times though.

99% of the people who watch The Star Wars show didn't know about Legion.

This. They feel forced at times and they are obviously pr people first and foremost, but there is obvious passion for star wars there.

Typical 'pretty girl, cant be a real nerd' reaction right there.

Fair enough. I was talking about users of this forum, not the youtube specific audience. Nothing is really added for us. If the intention of the post was excitement that the word is going out, then it's on me for misunderstanding.

Maybe it's the uber excited, everything is awesome, speech patterns, but it comes off as a bit forced. We may have watched two different interviews. There's a lot of surface level stuff mixed in with "Hey! Reference!" That's fine, but it comes across as manufactured. It would in no way be weird if the presenters weren't into the subject material. The show is basically one big commercial, so it stands to reason that there are writers involved and hosts who are good at selling the material. It's just advertising and marketing and it looks like it was made for people who love funko dolls. That's still fine.

Compare this to the content available from TC, JodoCast, or other geek related youtube shows with a similar style but without the obvious corporate influence.

I did like seeing Granny from Squidbillies on the show.

I am unaware of any confusion for release. I looked at the most customer facing bit of information available to the most people.

Up to this point, the only person talking about attractiveness is you. Based on your response, I could probably source all sorts of stereotypical references and apply them to you, but that'd be uninformed and pointless. Also, fake and manufactured don't really mean the same thing.

I probably should have worded that better. I didn't mean interviews from the show, I meant interviews with them from other places like TC and JodoCast. I know Andi has done some interviews with other YouTube star wars fan shows. I recently discovered Collider Jedi Council and am actually watching their interview with her right now ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFa7TCWP8N8 ).

But yeah, the show feels very forced corporate PR.. I do feel like you can feel some passion behind all the stepford smiles and corny jokes. Though, I also kinda feel like the jokes are corny on purpose and sometimes they go a little over-the-top with the cheese in kind of a self-aware way.

I totally get where you are coming from. The SW community has a bad reputation when it comes to interacting with women. I haven't seen a single girl at an x-wing tournament. I have some female friends who play, but they refuse to play at any of the local game stores because of the gatekeeping behavior that runs amok there. Granted, not all game stores are like that, but a lot of them are. It's a topic I've been thinking about a lot recently, and it is something we as a community really need to work on.

However, I'd give qwertyuiop the benefit of the doubt. I love the Star Wars show but it has a very thick layer of corporate wax on top of it. I feel like the opinion he shared is a little cynical, but not sexist.

I've never seen them advertise anything from FFG before on that show.

And yeah, the show is one dad joke after another, but it is a source for star wars news.

They've shown off X-wing once or twice if I remember correctly, and you can see some Armada stuff sometimes in the offices, I remember seeing a ISD from that game at one point.

This episode cover Star Wars Destiny really really briefly. Destiny coverage starts around 7:45.

I'm also in it. You can see the back of my head and the green hat I was wearing.
