Character as attachment questions

By Ryric, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

If a character is played as an attachment, can it still be targeted by cards that affect characters? I see that it doesn't add its skill values to the person its attached to, but does it add its skill values to its side during conflict resolution?

No and no. When the character is played as an attachment, it is mechanically an attachment card, and therefore no longer considered a character card. The stats are not counted towards conflict resolution, essentially the only card text that matters at that point is what traits the card may have and any abilities stated to be had or given when played as an attachment.

I dont think it can be targeted by cards affecting characters.

Check what Tattooed Wanderer says - " You may play this character as an attachment..."

So basicaly it becomes attachement and is no longer character.

Plus it does not add its skill value to its side during resolutions

Specifically, you can read the two monk attachments as +0/+0 attachments. They could have been more explicit on this in the rules somehow.

Heh, actually they have. I wonder if this is an undocumented update to the RR, I don't remember seeing it before...listed as a bullet under "Attachment Cards":

Quote

If a character card is in play as an attachment, the skill values on that character-as-attachment are not treated as skill modifiers (as they lack the “+” or “–” symbol before the value) for the character to which the card is attached.

We had found that, but I had a friend arguing that while they didn't add to the attached character for things like dueling or Rout, they still counted during conflict resolution. Thanks for the clarifications everyone!
