Where on the box or rules do I see what kind of sleeves I need for this game and how many I packages I need to order.

Never mind, I see now on the back of the rule book that it request 10 of the yellow FFG Sleeves.

I had bought a full 10-package container of the yellow FFG sleeves. Used a package on X-Wing cards, thinking I'd have enough left over for TI4 once I got it. Big mistake... You need the full 10 packages to cover every card!

I read on BGG that sleeves will make it difficult to store the cards in the insert though

Great... difficult to store the cards once they're sleeved. ugh UltraPro storage to the rescue (again).

This is true, I can confirm that the don't fit well when sleeved. I plan to eventually remove the plastic insert and make my own storage solution out of wood though. There's plenty of wasted space in the box.

I'll probably throw away hte plastic insert and just keep stuff in the game without any storage solution. It's not like it will be moved that much or that violently.
