Word on the Street

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Legion

Just visited my FLGS, and they said they had to order an unknown product from FFG, with a street day release for Force Friday, with the leading theory being a Legion demo.

Whats force friday?

It's Disney's big Star Wars merchandise day. It falls on September 1 this year.

Sept 1st. It's when all the Last Jedi toys go on sale.

I've heard some rumors about this. I'm really curious. I doubt it has to do with legion, but I hope I'm wrong.

Could be a X-wing TLJ pack with Kylo's TIE and something else. Like they did before TFA was released.

Yeah I'd be surprised if it was Legion related. Probably some surprise X-Wing products for TLJ.

At gencon, the only thing they said about Armada is "Something big is coming" so I'm going to assume that this mystery product is related to Armada.

My guy told me about this too and the price that was given was $30 but his distributor said that he had to order a case of them....a case of the unknown, secret product :P

Could be the TIE Silencer and the Resistance A-Wing.

So, how was the store approached? Even if they buy a lot of FFG stuff, I can't imagine a storeowner being too happy at the idea of buying a case of some $30 product without being told what it is?

Also, both you and OP are wording it that they "had to" order it. Like the distributor demanded it. Surely, it didn't go down quite like that (You can't exactly make a store carry your product and doing so would not create goodwill between you and them), but I am pretty curious as to how it went down.

I should see if any game stores in my area have heard about this mystery product...

Could be a new x-wing core or product.

Or 2 player Destiny starter

or a Star Wars version of Warhammer Quest Adventure Card Game

or...

I didn't say he "had" to buy it, my meaning was that if he did buy it then he had to buy a whole case of it. And he certainly wasn't happy about it but when someone says it's super secret AND Star Wars then you can't say no as a store owner. The Wars sells. Yeah but it does suck not actually knowing what you're getting until the day it arrives at your store. I honestly can't imagine it will be anything Legion related at that price point and quantity.

Yeah, I don't think it is legion related either, but I'm super curious.

I also didn't realize they said it was Star Wars. I figured that was just an assumption given the secret nature and release on Force Friday. And yeah, I misread your wording a bit, sorry about that.

I wonder if it is related to any of the preexisting games or just a one off product. It's probably something Armada (since they apparently have something mysterious in the works) or x-wing since, you know, x-wing.

I suppose we will know soon enough.

Maybe its not Legion, but instead another starwars miniature game more similar to Flames of War, i.e. platoons on a single base and large vehicles about the size of a hotwheels car!

Probably the Destiny Empire at War prerelease pack.

This is what I assumed it was. It's sort of the only thing that fits the price point and that FFG would want to have a big surprise release.

Would that be different to this? Which is on standard pre-order? (And Retailers just got a notification to state that its the last day to order it, along with L5R of the same)

The highly-anticipated release of the third set for Star Wars ™: Destiny is enhanced with the Empire at War Release Kit (OP046). Each kit supports up to 12 players, and should be paired with a booster display to allow each player to purchase at least three Empire at War booster packs (SWD07).

I've heard Empire at War is set for release on September 14th. Supposedly, they are doing release kits instead of prerelease kits. So, it seems like that would be too late, but then again you never know what's going on with FFG.

I also was privy to this info from my FLGS. He ordered one of them because Star Wars.

$30 retail seems too cheap for Legion plus it's not out yet. It could be an expansion, but what good would that be without the other required components? I'd bet X Wing 2 ship pack, but it's possible it's something else I don't follow.

That would be an interesting inversion - Kylo's TIE and two new X-Wings rather than one X-Wing and two TIEs :)

QS =D

Or Kylo's TIE with the of the new A-wings.

That'd be cool too :)

$30 sounds about right for an X-Wing, TLJ "Aces" double pack (TIE Silencer and A-Wing?). Not enough for Armada; they start at $20 each and that would be for small ships - so far we've only seen big ships from TLJ/TFA.

The only "Big" thing at that price point I can imagine is a Rogue One Aces pack for X-wing that fixes the X-wing, Y-wing and possibly the B-wing or Hawk.

But then again I'm an X-wing player, looking really eagerly at SW:Legion.
