Ogryn and Ratskins in the Calixis Sector

By Sp00ky2, in Dark Heresy

Have any of the currently released sourcebooks indicated the frequency of a Ogryn or Ratskin being found in the Calixis Sector? Are there any native populations? Are they "popular" as bodyguards for Nobles across the sector?

Further, have attribute modifiers been released? If not, what would you suggest they be?

Disciples of thedark gods has ogryns in it. But not stats.

I have to disagree, there are full rules for NPC Beast House Ogryn Handler.

Correct I meant to finish the sentence with "....for ratlings."

Ratskins are from Necromunda, but I'm certain the OP meant Ratlings.

I think their stats would be so unimpressive it wouldn't appeal to most players.

N01H3r3 did up a file some time ago called 'Something other than Human' which has Ogryn's, Ratling's, Null's and Squat's in it. Not sure where it is hosted now, covers the basics pretty well if you want to adjust them to suit your game/group.

I'd imagine they'd be very much like halflings in D&D - a decrease in strength and willpower (perhaps toughness as well), with a corresponding increase in agility and possibly Ballistic Skill. I'd also guess they'd be considered one size category down, and would thus impose a -10 penalty to attacks made against them... Combine that with an Agility-based skillset, especially Dodge, and I could see Ratlings being potent player characters.

Ogryns, given their stats, would probably be considered outside the realm of PC races.

They can be found on my webpage, which is linked to in my signature, below. I removed the Null rules after Disciples of the Dark Gods came out, though (as there are similar, but IMO better, rules for Untouchables in there)

So are there Ratling or Ogryn Untouchables? That would be interesting.

As o Ratskins, aside from Hive World and Scum, would you see them as a divergent origin, a alternate career rank or a background package, or would all three exist in different degrees?

The planet Karrik have a Ogryn population, also ogryn squads for the Guard are rise here.

IMO, and this has no basis in any published canon whatsoever, the potential to become an Untouchable is linked to that of being a Psyker. It's why they're so rare - the Pariah Gene only functions in beings whose genetics would otherwise make them a psyker, essentially taking their psychic potential and inverting it.

As there aren't any Ogryn psykers (back in the the original Rogue Trader rulebook, Ogryns had no chance whatsoever of being a Psyker), and Ratling Psykers are already incredibly rare (again, in oRT, Ratlings had a 1% chance of being psychic, compared to the 5% chance of a baseline human being psychic), it seems unlikely that Untouchables would manifest in either species, though more likely in the case of Ratlings (though an Untouchable Ratling would likely be unique within his generation)

Bt since both ratlings and ogryns are just stable mutant abhumans offshoot of humans, the potential does exist in their base genetic code. Has it actually been written in anything other then the original rogue trader about these species and psykers?

I would go with the notion of extra special super size me rare! But a villain with a untouchable ogryn thug would be quite interesting!
