Arboric and Sarween tools

By Robofish, in Twilight Imperium

OK, I just reread Sarween tools. It says when your units use PRODUCTION. This means that Arboric ground forces can use it!!!

As far as I can see, with decent play on the Arboric players part they should always have a GF on every tactical action. This means one free resource per action, probably 3 or 4 a turn.

This seems huge!

That's exactly how I read it as well. So now the Arborec are going to get 1-2 free infantry or fighters, or 1 free destroyer, as long as they have 1-2 infantry already on a planet or in a carrier, every single time they use a tactical action. It's pretty powerful.

Wow, this technology went from irrelevant for the faction in TI3 to pretty much fundamental!

Yep, so bottom-tier yellow tech is an absolute must-have for Arborec, while ironically the top-tier yellow (Integrated Economy) is almost useless (since they can just produce with their infantry after invading). I predict most Arborec will grab Sarween Tools as their very first tech, then ignore yellow from that point onward.

Here's your cherry on top:

Cruiser II (Stasis Capsules) requires one each of green/yellow/red... Sarwen Tools is pretty much a must buy, you want to at least start on green to eventually get to Leitani Warrior II and you start with a red...

Yeah, yellow tech ain't that great for Arborec past Sarween. Transit Diodes pales in comparison to Arborec's racial tech.

Why already on a planet? What's to prevent an Arborec player from moving two ground forces to a planet to take it, and then using the produce action to make two more ground forces? Nothing I've seen so far says that you have to own a system for a turn before you can produce or build in it. I've also not seen anything that says a unit can't move and produce with the same tactical action. They are, after all, producing in the system that has the command token in it which allowed them to move there.
