Which to use with ARC/B-wing

By SkyCooper, in X-Wing Squad Lists

PILOTS

Norra Wexley (34)
ARC-170 (29), BB-8 (2), Push the Limit (3), Alliance Overhaul (0)

Keyan Farlander (39)
B-Wing (29), Advanced Sensors (3), Rage (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), Finn (5)

Roark Garnet (27)
HWK-290 (19), Twin Laser Turret (6), Jan Ors (2)

My thoughts are leave Roark, or move Jan Ors to the ARC-170, and add a blank Biggs to draw a little fire, but that would remove the choice 12 Pilot.

B-wings should be as trim as possible to minimize the inevitable pain of losing one. Rage Farlander is much more flexible with Inspiring Recruit, and it frees up 4 points. You can use those points on your HWK, or give Norra an Engine Upgrade. Butterfly Norra (I didn't name her) really likes Kyle Katarn crew, but that would cost you Advanced Sensors. Roark is fine the way you have him. There are some other ships you could run for 27 points. Biggs with R4-D6 fits in the same spot. I refuse to play with Biggs, but it's your list, not mine.

I can see the theme of your squad, do as much green as possible to remove one of the stress tokens you got from actions before moving.
It should work but makes your squad movement kind of predictable since there is not that much green on the B-Wing dial.
If you are able to hold on to the edge doing zig zags (1 straight barrel roll) to draw your opponent to you it should work, but then you need vectored thrusters on Norra.
Also, don't forget "Chopper" on Norra even if you keep the original squad. Getting one damage to push the limit even on a red maneuver can really make the difference sometimes and cost you nothing just to equip him and don't use him.
In this case, these might be a good alternatives without changing much on your squad.

Norra Wexley (37)
ARC-170 (29), BB-8 (2), Push the Limit (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), Inspiring Recruit (1), Vectored Thrusters (2), "Chopper" (0)

Keyan Farlander (36)
B-Wing (29), Collision Detector (0), Rage (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), Finn (5)

Roark Garnet (27)
HWK-290 (19), Twin Laser Turret (6), Jan Ors (2)

Or make Keyan tankier, since its probably better to have Keyan fire another round at 12 initiative than do 1 extra damage now and risk be one shoted.

Norra Wexley (35)
ARC-170 (29), BB-8 (2), Push the Limit (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), Inspiring Recruit (1)

Keyan Farlander (38)
B-Wing (29), Sensor Jammer (4), Rage (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), C-3PO (3)

Roark Garnet (27)
HWK-290 (19), Twin Laser Turret (6), Jan Ors (2)

There is also this option that distributes your squad points evenly.

Norra Wexley (34)
ARC-170 (29), BB-8 (2), Push the Limit (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), "Chopper" (0)

Keyan Farlander (32)
B-Wing (29), Collision Detector (0), Rage (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), Inspiring Recruit (1)

Kyle Katarn (34)
HWK-290 (21), Twin Laser Turret (6), Jan Ors (2), Juke (2), Moldy Crow (3)

Kyle single-handedly killed Dengar for me in a game I played a few weeks ago. My opponent neglected him and 1v1 in the end game with Juke and stacked with focus tokens melted Dengar.

I play Norra, AO, R2D2, Nien Nunb, VT, PTL (or with Recon Spec. if flying with Dash), as for Keyan I fly him with just Advance Sensors when he's in the company of Norra.

Trouble is that once someone wants to target Keyan he goes down like a lead balloon, at least Norra can hold her own for a good while...unless focused down! Using her with Nien allows her to go at top speed without the red.
I just can't play with Biggs I find him boring.

When I fly Norra with Dash I chuck Jan Ors on board with him and then use Recon Spec. giving Norra a focus and evade each turn.
Will have to try 'Rage' though.

so the goal with the Rage is that you would get the extra focus that is unnecessary, Jan Ors would turn it into Evade, so that would help prevent the 1 rounders, as well as reduce the need for C-3PO (I'd rather the extra Red firing at 12 than an evade being as it's a strike first and hard list) he'd be clear of the rage by the end of the turn and able to do it again for round two.

Chopper I completely forgot about.

If you add inspiring recruit to the B-wing, Would that be able to work for the B-wing? It's worded weird, but can an inspiring recruit on farlander allow farlander to remove essentially his own rage? otherwise the suggestion to put inspiring recruit on the B-wing is kind of nil. I've always read it as other ship range 1-2.

There is no weird wording on the card, its clearly says when a friendly ship not when another friendly ship. Additionally, since its not unique you can have multiples of it on a ship with more than one crew slot and remove 2-3 stress tokens at once. Just bare in mind that in order to remove 2 stress tokens without inspiring recruit somewhere on your squad, Keyan MUST advanced sensors Rage, reveal a green maneuver. And since there is not much green on the B-Wing it makes it a slow moving target.
