Back when I played the old CCG there were a number of card sleeves based off the old artwork. I can't seem to find any of them now (Ultra Pro has one set with the Thunder Dragon but that's all). Does anyone have a source? I'm particularly hoping to find a set with Steve Argyle's "Strength of the Dragon" artwork that had Mitsu on one side and Satsu (in Dragon form) on the other.
Deck Protectors
Find the picture you like and go to www.inkedgaming.com to get them made. They are very quick with the turn around.
That's my backup plan although, since Argyle's work is covered under copyright, it'll probably mean finding someone to let me use their fan art or pics of myself in cosplay.
I used FFG card art with googly eyes added. FFG saw it at GenCon and they had no issue with it. In fact, they loved it.
ooof! Those are expensive sleeves. Not that I would expect anything different, but at $.48 each it would cost as much as a core set to sleeve your deck.
I would love to see some simple clan mon sleeves in reverse colors, though. For example Crane could have blue mons on white for dynasty and white mons on blue for conflict.

Wanted to give personal thanks for sharing this brilliant site! I know what a few of my friends are getting for christmas!
Actually got in touch with Steve. He says that his l5r pieces were never made into card sleeves, so it looks like I'm going with Inked Gaming and doing my costume pics.

On that note, what are the rules for colors; it says you have to use matte, but where does that start and end? If it's a sleeve that isn't matte, but isn't clear (maybe it's glossy or something), would that be an issue?

I imagine that if you are not selling/distributing them, you won't get in trouble. However, don't use art for cards that are legal. Not sure if it against the tourney rules, (It was in the CCG), but at the very least, it can be construed as trying to confuse to your opponent.

I think it would be a problem for the company making the sleeves, since they would be selling them with copyrighted work.
I'd be happy of FFG sold 90 card Clan Mon Deck Protectors. Half Clan colors for Dynasty Decks, and the other half reverse for Conflict decks
Assuming they will continue with their opaque-only rule, I hope (it's a fragile hope) FFG will put out sleeves of the artwork seen on the dynasty and fate card backs, because it's beautiful and does not deserve to be concealed. Same goes for the province backs - though I don't know how they might justify printing those as you only use five in a given deck.
