Kaa'to Leeachos double focus

By tadao_max, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I had a question regarding how Kaa'to worked with attani mindlink.

Let's say Kaa'to and N'dru both have mindlink, Kaa'to focuses first and N'dru is automatically assigned a focus too. N'dru is able to take whatever action now.

Now here's where i'm a little mindflooded. If Kaa'to and N'dru are both at range one of eachother. At the start of combat, Kaa'to can steal a focus from N'dru. Kaa'to-2 focus, N'dru-0 focus.

When Kaa'to steals a focus, it says "...assign it to yourself"

Mindlink says "Each time you are assigned a focus or stress token, each other ship with Attani Mindlink must also be assigned the same type of token if it DOES NOT ALREADY HAVE ONE"

My question is when Kaa'to's pilot ability procs, does mindlink count N'dru as having 0 focus, therefore assigning him a focus.

End result Kaa'to-2 focus, N'dru-1 focus

sorry for long post but I didn't know how to word it efficiently

thanks for reading :P

Yes. N'dru will gain a focus.

If N'dru is close enough for Kaa'to to steal a token, then you're too close for N'dru to use his pilot ability. Just food for thought.

Yeah, I was just giving an example, it is better to pair with another ship with talent slot

Kaa'to must remove N'dru's token before assigning it to himself, so N'dru has no token when the mindlink triggers, and thus receives a token from it.

Your end result is quite correct.
