Just a little terrain tip

Just FYI most minis marketed as "28mm" have actually been more like 32mm for the last ten years, at least.

This is true. The actual scale used by gaming figs is all over the map. This is why I think the whole IA vs Legions thing is a tempest in a teapot type of thing. There are bigger differences in scale between figs from the same game out there.

I think you are correct, Forgottenlore, which is why I argued elsewhere that the real issue is not the size of the figures so much as the fact that the figures are just one among many components sold as expansions to an altogether different game, which in turn is why a lot of people mad about the size difference are requesting "conversion kits," which would essentially be the game minus the miniatures.

in regards to IA vs Legion, fully expect people to run maxed out squads using figs from IA to fill the numbers out.
Least far as i can tell, aside from the Sergeant in a group (perhaps special weapons in the future), the rest of the unit is just generic models to add more dice anyway.

Seems like you will be able to max out your squad with the seven figs in the pack. (Assuming expansion packs will work like the core set.)

I've heard that the expansion packs will have 7 models in it... So Leader, 4 troops, and 2 specials. So there's no need to flesh out a squad with IA models.

But you could use IA models to create a squad, just need something that sets the leader apart and ideally have something that works for the special weapon. Considering you'll have 2 extra specials from the Core, and 1 extra per pack, you could just use those. I think the missile launcher would work better, since it's squatting so the size difference would be harder to see.

That's also O scale for model railroad stuff.

Thank you. I spent like half an hour the other day trying to figure that out. There's some really cool train tunnels through mountains that I thought would be great for this but had no idea what scale to look at.

FYI O scale is a bit bigger than 1/56 but it basically works in principal.

Here is a project of mine using O scale stuff. Sorry there is not a lot of figure reference in the pics. The Northstar fig in the first pic is sold as 28mm but is of course actually more like 32mm:

That's an issue in Bolt Action, which is 28mm... People tend to get either 1/56 or 1/48 scale Tanks and other vehicles... But 1/56 scale is a tiny bit too small and 1/48 is a bit too big. Which isn't an issue if you don't mix/match scales. But it looks like Legion will be 32mm which means 1/48 should be better. That's also O scale for model railroad stuff.

I think u meant 1/56 for Legion... If u do math seems more reasonable:

32mm * 56 = 1.792 meters

32mm * 48 = 1.536 meters (too short)

Nah 1/48 is a bigger scale than 1/56:

A 6' tall person in 1/56 is about 33mm tall; in 1/48, he's about 38mm tall.

I've done more terrain than I should have over the past couple decades and there is no reason to sweat the difference in 1/48 scale and the various war-gaming scales around the size of warhammer, Imperial Assault and what Legion looks like it will be. And this is coming from someone who has sweat a LOT about it! As long as one tie isn't different from another one on the same board (and you can even get away with this when making wrecks) it should look good and minor differences in scales is forgotten when having fun playing!

i plan on using the Bandai 1/48 models which include an AT-ST, snow speeder and an x-wing (the x-wing is really expensive cause it has lights and sound) I also have an MPC a-wing and tie interceptor which are real close to 1/48 and an ERTL kit that came with two ties in 1/48. There is even a rare darth vader tie in 1/48 that was part of model rocket kit for ESTIES that I am in the middle of converting at the said scale.

I tried posting pics of the model sets but the website won't let me.
