Ok, so there a plethora of beloved ships that have never gotten movie treatment. But even as the series moves on with Ep. 8-9 and the Rogue One style one off movies there are opportunities to include them. For instance, the TIE Defender, Avenger, E-Wing, etc. all represent late GCW/Early republic era ships that could easily introduced in Ep.8 as both sides getting desperate enough to break out "museum pieces" that were cutting edge in their day and still able to hold their own against the more modern fighters. It would also be an interesting wrinkle if they threw in "Imperial Remnant" factions that opposed the First Order. Whether for ideological reasons or more practical ones (like they don't think a war with the Republic can be currently won even after the First Orders strike) seeing these Imperial ships fighting along the Resistance could make for some interesting subtleties.

The Han Solo movie would be an excellent place to introduce the Decimator into cannon as it was designed to be the "evil Millennium Falcon". It could also be a good place to introduce the star ship of some of the other big name bounty hunters/scum pilots as Han runs into them. I just hope they don't try and make Han seem like a good person before he joins the Rebellion. Cause he wasn't supposed to be. He was a smuggler for a major criminal cartel. Let him be a protagonist and don't try and make him a hero in that movie.

If true the Obi Wan movie likely won't give many opportunities for ship conflicts since he spent to majority of that time between Ep 3 and 4 hiding and protecting Luke from discovery.

A Rogue Squadron series would be an excellent way to also introduce and focus on the ships and pilots on both sides of the GCW.

I also would watch a stupid number of times, a movie that was more a collection of short stories showing us a bit of backstory on each of the bounty hunters Lord Vader called upon in "The Empire Strikes Back". While I would also watch a full on each, a movie doing a sort of highlights reel of Bossk, 4-LOM, Zuckuss, IG-88 and Dengar would not only give us on screen representations of their ships but give greater context as to why THESE were the guys Vader called upon to hunt down Han Solo.

Rogue Squadron tv series for sure as shooting. I'd LOVE that.

Other than that I really want to see original content. Probably set during GCW or shortly after, but I want to see new stories. Stories in which not a single named character from any of the movies OR the EU feature. Pick a strong director and a strong writer and let them write original content in the shared universe. It's a BIG **** universe, so show us some more of it.

I'd far rather see that than 'retread some old EU material volume fifty eight million'.

I want a Greedo movie done like Forest Gump but where he's always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'd like to see a movie from the Empire's perspective, preferably one that doesn't have the main Imperial character having a change of heart and switching factions at the end. I'm sure every stormtrooper/Imperial navy sailor wasn't a blood thirsty savage. Heck one of the first shots we see of stormtroopers in A New Hope involves one bending over the body of a wounded/dead comrade presumably checking his vitals to see if he needed medical assistance.

I am aware, which is why I mentioned I mentioned movie appearances. And while Rebels is a fine childrens show, I feel it suffers from being one as well in that they have to have the good guys often win with rarely significant sacrifices. If it were set during the GCW post Yavin I could be more understanding, however since Scariff and the stealing of the Death Star plans was supposed to be the first major victory for the Rebellion I feel that series would have been better served as a grittier live action series on say HBO, Cinemax, etc.

I agree SW Rebels comes way too close to contradicting film canon on a number of points.

I feel compelled to disagree with you. Star Wars should never have mature audience content. HBhOes and Skinemax are the worst possible producers to entrust with a franchise that is supposed to be appropriate for young audiences. Rogue one is proof that Star Wars can explore the darker side of humanity without handing it over to producers that are a bridge to the porn industry. There are plenty of science fiction options for adult-only audiences. Making TV-MA or R rated Star Wars would betray the philosophy that Star Wars is for everyone. SW Rebels effectively honors that tradition. The show has some continuity issues, and some of it is childish. However, the core episodes, the ones with the most impact on the greater Star Wars universe, have been excellent quality at a level an adult can comfortably enjoy.

I'm hoping the Disney based streaming service coming in a couple years will be the launching point of the long awaited live action series that has been in limbo for so long.

Hopefully they'd use the scripts that are already written. Just need to get to the point that the effects can help the story without getting too out of control with cost. I think they might be there now.

Have you read the Lando comic? It would make a great movie.

You know what I want?

It would be friggin' hard to make, and you would have to do it well: I'm talking good actors, fair effects, but story and plot above all else.

I want an Emperor movie.

I want a movie starting at birth and ending at Episode 3 of Palpatine's life story. How does a kid named Sheev end up as a friendly old man from Naboo, and how does that man end up ruling the entire frigging galaxy. He became a senator, how does that happen? We're talking House of Cards with a Dexter-type psycho as the protagonist, except instead of serial killing it's the usage of the Dark Side he's hiding from his neighbors. Game of Thrones where Littlefinger not only wins, but it turns out he was a hiding the fact that he was a white walker the whole time and he builds the dragons to keep Westeros under his boot. That's how good I think you could make this.

And I like political drama. Done right it's just the right mix of intellectual and high-stakes that can really drive a story. I know the sequels got slammed for the lengthy dive into the galaxy's politics that wasn't the laser-sword-adventure people expected; but what if they went all out? Full inter-galactic political thriller? Intrigue, assassinations, maneuvering, lies, war, and evil magic all rolled into one.

If I could wish a SW movie into existence, it would be P A L P A T I N E : A Star Wars Story.

I think Rogue One opened the door to the non core theme film idea, I'd like to see it explored more. Top of my list is a Mandolorian and Black Sun film. One Kelvin's comment about an all out Star Wars political thriller is an excellent idea. In my mind it would be like a Tom Clancy story on Coruscant. The other genre that Star Wars is already quite close to is the India Jones / Tomb Raider style lost artefact discovery and pursuit. Such a film could retain a family and younger appeal while exploring threads from the history of the Star wars universe.

Personally I'd still like to see more gritty Star Wars war films. Things that pay a homage to Full metal Jacket or even Stalingrad/Enemy at the Gates. A good grim up close and personal meat grinder of a battle between Rebels and Empire where you end up having sympathy for both sides. Imagine a Rebel Vasily Zaytsev facing an Imperial Storm Trooper cut from similar cloth to Major Erwin König. The second style that appeals but I think would be unlikely to be seen would be a film that looks at the lives of regular pilots especially the Imperials possibly in the form of a documentary or the story of an Imperial documentary maker assigned to a Star Destroyer or carrier.

I hope they have some complexity in his character, because he was no hero but he also wasn't a complete sociopath. From rescuing Chewie from slavery (at least in the old stories) to clearing Luke during the attack on the Death Star, Han is clearly able to do the right thing when the opportunity is right in front of him. At the same time, he's no hero and isn't going to race across the galaxy seeking opportunities to help (without reward, of course). I hope they bring out his scummy side, but at the same time don't make him so thoroughly unlikeable that his return at the end of ANH seems like a complete, unexplained 180.

Give him some depth and inner conflict, I guess is what I'm saying.

The question, though, is do we go a more animated, Clone Wars/Rebels route, or make it live-action like Game of Thrones?
