Is the Reload Action a bit lazy?

Seeing how fast my Punisher dies, I always thought it could be fun with a sort of auto deadmans switch, with the damage proportional to the remaining unspent munitions.

Then I would be happy with a title offering a discount on equipped munitions for the punisher.

Reload is ****. Clearly, this should have been an errata to discardable weapons rules, not a new action reserved to "new" ships.

Again, FFG's big brains give us some useless new mechanic instead of fixing the problem in the first place.

I really hope they at least make the reload action available for B-wings insome feasible way - both ships (starwing and b-wing) do fill the same tactical role... (heavy fighter/bomber with lots of guns and ordnance)

Do we even know what reload does yet? It might refill all spent munitions instead of just 1. It might not be an enhancement for munitions, it might be "a new design space" that "doesn't errata older cards" just continued planned obsolescence.

It was in the article. It refills all munitions, not just one.

I don't see how its lazy I think it is something that really helps munitions. Needed 'fixes' are needed and this offers an elegant solution. In the short run yeah its a bit problematic since there are many ships that need it and only the new ones have it. However I think we will see this rolled out to all needed parties via new updates and all will see it come their way. Sunny may be a legitimate casualty but could have resulted from that ability just feeling so much better than the current options so it was rolled out to the masses. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the Sunny Bounder.

literally all Reload would do for a punisher is make them only actually need 1 ordnance (missile/torp). Unless it was in a free title though anything giving them the reload action would cost enough to counteract EM anyway.

People keep wanting more ordnance capability on the punisher thinking that'll fix it. No, it wont, it rarely even gets 2 ordnance shots off....THATs its problem. Its too squishy/clunky for its price, giving it extra ordnance will do nothing.

the rulecard is spoiled. Its an action to flip over all torp/missiles and receive a weapons disabled token.

They should just errata Quinn Jast to say "at the start of the combat phase, you may perform a free reload action". You know, for consistency.

that would actually nerf him

His ability makes no mention about stress. Making it a free action would mean he is stress-cancelled.

Ah. That's right. Still, it seems like they're at the point where they are reusing abilities a lot.

I will take a wild guess this wave is the test bed for the reload action and there will probably be a torpedo slot card in future.
