Terrain hopes and dreams

By BergerFett, in Star Wars: Legion

Lets pretend FFG comes out with Legion playmats and matching terrain. What are you hopeful for?

For me id love to see a Star Destroyer hanger map. the floor is industrial and what you would expect to see and for the terrain you have the obvious hard cover in supply crates. for soft cover you could have the scaffolding for the TIE fighters/AT-ATs.

Im sure people are excited for tatooine/hoth/endor but what else? Massassi temples could be interesting for sure.

Nice :) ; for a Star destroyer hanger I think gantries and open stairwells would allow for sniping opportunities. I find Elevation is really important for keeping things interesting. Cargo cranes, fuel storage, munitions, trucking vehicles.

SW video games will be ideal for inspiration too (dark forces) as someone has generally already thought about cover ideas.

Well, since this is "dreams".....Coruscant or Corellia city terrain please :D

Realistically, any SW themed Terran would be excellent.

Easy stuff. Vaporators. Gateways. Bins. Cargo. Domed houses. A marketplace. Off the top pf my head.

I think the terrain they already had in the demos gives a fairly good spread of what I would like to see:

Forrests, moisture farms, outposts.

The hangar is a great idea.

A generic base. Something rather large taking about 60-70% of the play space. Main entrance is a hanger so vehicles are still able to play a role. But really just a blow the doors open and secure the area map. Or defend the base. Depends on the scenario.

A road/highway would be thematic as well. Imps are moving supplies and troops but just up the road a Rebel ambush is waiting.

Coruscant for sure. I'm so pumped for the IA expansion for the Coruscant campaign it's not even funny...

I just want that imperial bunker from endor lol that thing looked good on their table!

I'm excited to make my own. Already have a few planets planned out. It is amazing what you can do with pink insulation, a knife, and some paint.

Making your own terrain is part of the miniature game hobby. If you have no desire to make your own then there are plenty of third party vendors out there and commission terrain makers that can provide some very nice generic sci-fi terrain and game mats for a price. The challenge with the Star Wars setting is that only the license holder i.e. FFG will be allowed to sell "official" Star Wars terrain. Third party manufacturers will not be able to sell exact Star Wars replicas due to licensing restrictions with Lucasfilms/Disney. However, that doesn't stop you from making your own. Remember miniature gaming is a hobby in itself that embraces and promotes creativity and artistry. Buying and painting miniatures is just part of the hobby. Having great looking terrain tables will require a significant investment in time and/or money. The time and money I've spent on terrain for my miniature games rivals that of the cost and time to collect, build, and paint the miniatures for the game. The great looking Legion demo tables at Gen Con were not cheap in time or money to make/acquire from scratch.

A few sticks, some moss from the hobby stores and you are halfway done with Endor.

I'd want Hoth trenches for sure.

I'm also wondering if we'll get Ewok treetop buildings and how the game wil handle shooting from differnt hights.

I'd like to see some urban battles and terrain ... including Ring of Kafrene (i.e. Kafrene City)

Plan to make a lot of my own terrain. That's my favorite part of this hobby.

I was thinking the same. I bought these from the Michael's "Faerie Garden" on clearance but they instantly made me think of Endor and how I could build it.

Ewok village.

From the GenCon photos I saw, it looked like Sullust, Endor, and Lothal (from the rock formations I saw on one table)

an ewok village would be awesome.

Speaking of trenches, The Last Jedi seems to feature a bit of that on the battle on the planet Crait (it's the planet where we see Ski Speeders kicking up that blood-red dust).

Buy an (incomplete) Ewok village or Robin Hood village on eBay For `$50, throw some paint and flock on it -> profit.

I'd like to see THIS on a table one day!

I spent so much time on the old Battlefront games that I am tempted to try to create a Naboo city map.
