i was playing dumb.
Got into wondering what all the TIE abbreviations were:
TIE/ln = TIE Fighter
TIE/FO = TIE Fighter (First Order)
TIE/sf = TIE Special Forces
TIE/IN = TIE Interceptor
TIE/v1 = TIE Advanced Prototype
TIE/x1 = TIE Advanced
TIE/sa = TIE Bomber
TIE/sh = TIE Shuttle
TIE/x7 = TIE Defender Prototype
TIE/D = TIE Defender
TIE/IT = TIE Punisher
TIE/ph = TIE Phantom
TIE/ag = TIE Aggressor
TIE/sk = TIE Striker
TIE/vn = TIE Silencer
At 15, there are more TIEs than waves. Maybe why I might be looking forward to something just a little different.
BLASTBOAT!!

And while I will not challenge your hate, I would like to ask what you would prefer in its place? It can fit a hole in the Imperial ranks as a non-shuttle big based ship with turret potential that doesn't cost Decimator levels of points. Not a lot of options for that role.

I'm sure to say "well, in the EU..." is the exact opposite of original, but-
Well, in the EU, these things were everywhere. They weren't in the movies, but in-universe, for a citizien of the empire, they'd be almost as synonymous with the Empire as Star Destroyers and TiE fighters. They were on garrison duty, hunting pirates, supporting invasions, providing armed recon...
So actually, provided the Skipray makes it into the game, it would be less a case of "doesn't fit with our aesthetic" as much as "broadening the perspective" to my mind. Which would be a good thing, wouldn't you agree?
I guess we can agree on the pilots, right? Kir Kanos and Mara Jade?

Only if Kanos finally gets the Talent slot of which he was robbed. Innate Barrel Roll plus Intensity could make him halfway useful, too.

And, from the EU perspective, a pack to include Thrawn and Noghri Guards (although I have no idea what they would do in XWM).

That would be cool, specially now both Thrawn and his Noghri Gaurd(s) are canon.
Thrawn in a Chiss starfighter?

Maybe. Thrawn seems like a hands on kinda guy. Plus, I'm sure at some point he was a regular grunt.

That's like assuming Akbar was a pilot in the star fighter Corp as well. But it would be awesome to see a younger Thrawn in a variant Advanced TIE (or GUNBOAT). I'm pretty sure Thrawn has spent his career on the Command track starting with something like first officer on a patrol ship like a Decimator and working his way up. Anyone read anything about his military history before Heir to the Empire or Rebels?

It all depend on the paint scheme. Add some black and/or red touches to that and we wouldnt be that far. So Blastboat is the new most wanted ship?

The book Thrawn is all about that. His first assignment was on a Gozanti named the Blood Crow as second weapons officer. Throughout the book, he is never mentioned as taking a fighter out himself, though he does personally supervise a couple of ground and investigation missions.

True.
If it has some greens, it could also make a decent carrier for Hux... Imagine this ship with Hux and 2 Aggressor. Now were in business.

In the new Thrawn novel, which details his rise through the ranks in the Empire, he started off as a Lieutenant before he even actually got put in the Royal Imperial Academy by Palpatine, where he only underwent three months of training (Since he had prior command experience with the Chiss). Afterward, he was made the Second Weapon's Officer on board a Gozanti, where he saw a quick promotion up to First Weapon's Officer. Quite a few things happened after that point, before he met Pryce and Yularen, who both helped to further his political career, helping him make his way up to First Officer aboard an Arquitens-Class light cruiser. From there he's promoted to Commodore after many tense situations, then very quickly promoted to Admiral after yet more intense problems.
Throughout the book, it's never mentioned that he ever piloted (that I can recall), but he did do some work on the ground from time to time, particularly in the earlier chapters. It's an amazing read, and I strongly suggest checking that book out some time.
Back in 2015 I made these:
This was right before Wave 7, when I was preparing a huge upgrade of all my custom cards, but then I left it gainging dust....

Considering it has multiple versions of it, I wonder if multiple titles specialized in different styles of play would be in order, like the Gunboat.

The EU was hugely inconsistent in this, and in many other things, one of the biggest reasons it had to go. For example, in Specter of the Past Pellaeon paints being forced to utilize non TIE craft just to stay relevant as a huge indicator of the Empire's decline. The Blastboat, like the Gunboat, was only in a small number of sources mostly by the same creators but within those sources their importance and widespreadness within the Empire was played up to huge degree that doesn't match their total absence from the movies and most other media. It was part of the EU's larger problem where the lack of any sort of meaning oversight allowed individual writers to try and completely alter the state of universe to play up their own pet creations or theories and it resulted in numerous wildly contradictory takes on the overall universe that often even ran counter to what was in the movies.
