Star Wars 3D Terrain

By The Rebel Fleet, in Star Wars: Legion

I hope FFG sells or puts out some Star Wars 3D Terrain, also i hope we get a dedicated "How to make Star Wars Terrain" thread!!!!!!

I used to have a bunch of print-cut-glue terrain and vehicle models... I think the templates and source files are around somewhere.

Though making terrain from pink insulation foam is pretty easy and not too expensive.

I just hope they give us the option of buying some super cool star wars terrain,!

I think they will. The market is there and it will be a quick and easy money maker for FFG

I have about 4 boards full of Infinity terrain just crying out for Star Wars-ifying...neon Aurebesh signage and so on.

But I really need some landspeeders for my roads...

One of my setups is Sarissa Precisions colony buildings, which I think could be made to look very SW-esque.

Some of those could definitely serve as an Endor bunker.

The only downside to Sarissa stuff is the scale will be off for Legion.

Sarissa is definitely design for 28mm. I use it for Batman, and it's ok, but noticeable when you stand the minis next to doors and such.

Yeah, it is a tad small tbh. I'm going to hold off until I get hold of Legion before going too nuts, but there's plenty of stuff around these days.

Wow Great link!!!! Thanks!!!

time to warm up my 3D printer...

For me time to learn how to use foam board to create Star wars magic!!!!

I'm thinking I'll have to learn to do foam cutting and build an endor bunker as two 3x3 sections that line up for ease of transport. Inbuilt bunker and everything, similar to the one at gencon

I had just bought a bunch of foam sheets and a hot wire cutter to start making WH40k terrain... but that's stopped and now going to be for Star Wars terrain.

search some of the prominent locations from the movies in search engines followed by "stl" or in the right engine to begin with. There is a multitude of stuff out there that is already designed ready for a printing service or friends printer, just make sure you tweak the scaling to get it right 1st (seeing as how it's such a touchy subject atm)

I really don't get the "no at at" crowd, there are so many builds out there which will be usable (even with motorized build notes should they wish!!!) without ffg even having to consider it........

Probably about the time the game comes out (or a month or so later) i bet some crazy kitbasher will post such a thing.

Tatooine terrain would be the easiest to make from scratch but other places such as Kashyyyk would be rather difficult. There are numerous tutorials on giant trees out there, theyre all lengthy lol

I'll post a link here now as well, because there really isn't a better resource for cheap but very nice looking terrain. Mell uses insulation and foam core to make some very, very nice looking stuff.

Don't even need to make Tatooine stuff from scratch. It's literally just North African buildings with some random metal bits stuck on.

Look at Mos Eisley, and you can see the majority of buildings are simple North African adobe style buildings with parapeted flat roofs. Those are super easy to buy, then detail to your hearts content.

Here's a fan made video game map...I used this as it removes the clutter. You can even make 90% of these from boxes. Add some domes, doors, windows and whatever....sorted.

I don't think the terrain is what I'm looking for, it is the moisture vaporators, consoles, blast doors and crates that I want from FFG.

There are lots of similar items from other sources, but it always looks a bit off. If FFG could provide the set dressing, then just about any existing terrain, buildings and interiors we already have will almost instantly have the SW feel & look. Which translates into having more cash to spend on buying expansions instead of 3D terrain.

This is a really good point, AND something that is economical for FFG

There are sooooo many options. My husband was so glad when I gave up on 40k and all the styrofoam I'd been saving disappeared from the house. Now it will be back!

Seriously though, I want to make a Masassi temple to go on the board edge, Endor bunker (naturally), a Naboo street, a SD hangar bay, Multi-level Kashyyk settlement, and, and, and....

I am going to build a Death Star Interior using created decals printed on 8.5 x 11 label sheets, trimmed and applied to foam core and built as modular walls.

This way I can create other Imperial Bases/Strongholds for interior battles.

These are printed in groups of 4 but each panel will be individually trimmed and applied. (light panel, intake panel, exhaust panel, maintenance panel)

An area of catwalks will created as well.
