I'm looking to get at least 2 activations along with at least 2 squads for CAP. Tough ask I know but current thoughts are:
2 Goz, 2 TIE-Def and 2 TIE-Adv
or
Raider I, Goz, 2 Agressors or 4 TIEs
or even
Slaved Kitten, Goz and 2 TIEs
or am I just being wildly optimistic?
2 comms net goz and 6 tie fighters comes in at 98 points. Add an ISD and some other goodies for flavor

Exactly what I've been using in my 2x ISD list.
Just enough squadron to to be a bit of a tar-pit while the ISDs go to work.

Do you think 4 TIEs are more effective than 2 TIE-Defs? Is 6 TIE the minimum worthwhile? All I think I need is one round possibly two of holding up a bomber attack before them dying. Need to find the right balance of making them effective for a round or two without throwing away too many points when they inevitably get mullered.

For me personally 6 ties has been the sweet spot. It's three deployments and I can activate 4 or 5 with an ISD after the enemy bombers have made their first attack run, follow up with flak, and then send in the last one or two with gozantis, then use the goz's in subsequent rounds to activate whatever is still alive.
It generally buys me two rounds of not getting hit by bombers, often during the most critical ship to ship exchanges

I'd go for Valen + Ciena before 2 Defenders. I can't think of a scenario in which I'd rather have 2 Defenders over Valen + Ciena as my only squadron cover.
4 vanilla TIEs is a strong alternative for a bare minimum squadron cover, in that they get you that extra deployment. They're a throwaway squadron force though: you don't fly them to win the squadron game, you fly them to minimize your opponent's bombers' effectiveness, and rejoice any time one doesn't get one-shotted.

Flechette Torpedoes [3pts], Ordnance Experts [4pts], Quad Laser Turrets [5pts], •Agent Kallus [3pts], •Instigator [4pts]
With this build, you wouldn't have to worry about going squadronless, this Raider could destroy all of their squads or at least force to try and avoid it. 3 black die on named squads, re-rolls every attack, use a crit to activate them, freeze them in place, forcing them to only attack it, then you get counter 1. It's perfect.

It's a solid set up no doubt, but you generally want to pair it with at least two tie fighters to pin their squads just long enough to get it all lined up while avoiding getting the raider bombed to death before even firing

Yeah, thinking of running this with two TIE-Ints and a Gozanti for 108pts
