Ignore function please

By Dr alex, in Star Wars: Armada

Dear FFG,

I love your forums, however there are some people who post on them who appear to either be trolling and/or are somewhat more abrasive in their viewpoints than I would like.

Because I cannot tolerate people being wrong on the internet it is very easy to get drawn into arguement s which are probably not very pleasant for anyone and create work for your admins with all the reporting that happens.

Rather than respond sarcastically when someone is say objectively wrong about something factual for the 9 billionth time and being a prat about it, I try very hard to ignore them and just carry on reading around them. It would be so much easier if I could just select those people to ignore and their messages can be hidden so I don't have to read them and then in a moment of weakness get dragged into an arguement.

On other forums I frequent there is an ignore function which rather than completely blocking people who are ignored displays a message along the lines of 'you have chosen to ignore Mr wrong McTroll, click here to display post'. Which works well and means that I can still choose to read their posts, and if over time they stop annoying me quite as much I can stop ignoring them.

please can we have this, otherwise I suspect I will get banned on occasion

Go go Alex

There is one, isn't there? If you mouse-over the image or name of a user, a box comes up with info like 'last logged in', 'currently viewing', etc. Under those three are three options: Message, Ignore User, Find Content.

I think ignore user prevents you from reading what the user has posted.

Ah found it now. (I had looked).

In case anyone else is trying to avoid the temptation of the dark side on their phone, it's under account settings - ignored users.

phew

Lol

Or just try using the "OFF MODE"

It's still not a super great feature. I'd rather all their posts and content to be stripped from my view, rather than have the comment say "Hey, you don't like this guy so let's tease you with something that they said and you're probably not going to agree with them. How strong is your self control?"

And if someone quotes the blocked person, you still get to read the **** they say. And whatever they said is wrong. Because I'm right and we disagreed before.

Please FFG, just block all their comments and quotes.

I hate to be that guy, but if the forums ruffle your feathers that much maybe it's time to take a break... Although on second look it seems like you're being facetious, can't tell through text. :P

Partially both, which is why I get off the forums on weekends typically and when I'm at home.

But really, the ignore feature sucks.
