For all the localisation people, why do you wait for the version to be out in your language? At least those of you who post here shouldn't have any issues with the amount of text, nor is the language on the cards, etc. that difficult for people who have read/studied English in school IMO.

Well, what the others said about some fellow gamers with not so good knowledge of English. Also the German edition is cheaper here, so for the same price I can buy expansions and sleeves.

When the Reaper expansion was released in english, it arives 2 months later here in the netherlands.

But luckily, there were no trouble with the Frostmarch expansion.

I was lucky with the Dungeon expansion too, because i bought it from a english shop at the Fantasy fair, in the netherlandsgran_risa.gif

I hope The ighlands comes with Runegates and a one or two Runes spaces. Let's keep that board open!

I hope we hear some news soon.. (next week maybe, or the week after that..)

So... Alchemist appears as a first from 6 new characters and I must admit that is is very interesting happy.gif. I hope we get more news next week...

Yeah, Alchemist is now spoiled on the main page. I have to say he is a VERY awesome character with very cool abilities, don't get me wrong, but I'm just a bit disappointed because it looks like this set is going to continue the trend of more and more power creep with the characters. Most of the core game characters are already pretty weak compared to most of the broken expansion characters, but it looks like that's going to only get worse.

~

Maybe they could come up with some way to boost up those older characters to even the playing field a bit? Like for example maybe make some objects and magic objects that do something cool, but something better if your character card doesn't have an expansion icon on it? Or objects that refer to those early characters by name and can only be used by them?

Yes, the idea for cards that are better for non-expansion characters is a good one.

Thus you could easily refer to a group of character s without using names.

So we get another Gold based chatacter... Seems ok. If he gets powerful enough to survive the dungeon, though... I've always found it easy to get gold there... dude would never die.

That is if he can level up fast enough.

The Alchemist looks fun to me gran_risa.gif

Discarding objects for gold, and using the gold to get spells, or healing, is a nice ability.

FFG did a good job.

( He is better than the 3th edition version) That's a plus point aplauso.gif

I love the alchemist's powers, especially the gold to potion power. Im trying to remember is there is the follower version like in the 2nd and 3rd ed. Also im curious to see if they will incorporate Morak's hammer in this one.

Me too gui%C3%B1o.gif

I hope that it will be included in this expansion

I'm new to the forums and havent had a great deal of time to browse all that is available here. So forgive my ignorance, but i purchased 4rth edition and all expansions at one time. Highlands is coming out which is great. But has there been any discussion about the box INTERIOR? Based on the number of cards it'd be a godsend to have HIGHLANDS come with massive amounts of card holding and organizing pockets. The interior of 4rth ed revised is nice but there are only 2 full card wells. I didnt understand why there are 6 other card sized storage areas but that each of the 6 are only partially "drilled" and hold only a fraction of the cards that the 2 full wells hold. Highlands is gonna be great i'm sure but a more fully developed, functional card storage system would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few cards that were in the 3rd ed that I wouldnt mind seeing:

- Howl of the Wendigo

- Dwarf Runemaster (that runesword was so cool way back in the day)

There is already a Howl of the Wendingo in the Frostmarch expansion.

But FFG has made that card easier than the third edition version.

It would be nice, if the third edition version from Howl of the wendingo show up in the Highlands..

The first sneak peek has began on Talisman island gran_risa.gif

The Tumbling Boulder is from the Mountain expansion (3th edition)

Tumbling Boulder ( event)

A huge boulder comes crashing down.

Roll a dice for yourself and each follower.

You character will lose a life on a roll of 1 or 2, while a follower is crushed by the boulder, and must be discarded on a roll of 1 or 2.

A short list about the cards what we have seen, and which type card it should/could be..

Adventure cards:

Eyrie Vanguard

Treasure cards:

Dreadwing..?

Highland cards:

Harpy, Tumbling Boulder.

Spell cards:

Simulacrum?

I hope that more cards will come that let you discard your uncompleted warlock cards ( such as False Grail or Glory Seeker

T'hen there is still hope for the Knight( for example) to get rid of the lose one life, if all other characters are good)

Then people don't have to use the variant. ( i don't want to play with it)

Alchemist might be one of the hardest characters to kill. Gold gets drawn a lot and additionally, he can turn useless stuff to Gold, further fueling his healing (or spell-cycling or Fate). He begins with 5 Gold, so on the first turn, he essentially becomes 3 Gold, 2 Spell character right away. I don't like the "instant" effect of alchemise either. Even though the Spell and Follower are the same, they can only turn stuff into 1 Gold each and offer no healing/replenishing/Spell option. With the various things he can do, I would've preferred if his alchemise ability had him miss a turn when he uses it.

If i play with the alchemist, i think i will change first 1 gold to 1 spell, and the other 4 gold will be spend for a armour..

Or maybe i begin with 2 spells, and buy later a axe with the 3 gold..

The alchemist can get a lot of gold, especially, if he alchemise magic objects for 3 gold each

He can easily become the Druid/Warlock's equal when it comes to spell-cycling, 1G for Spell each is cheap. And it's hard seeing him ever running out of Gold, just 1 Fool's Gold and Raiders in deck vs a buttload of Objects (and Magic Objects) that can be used to fuel his abilities. Lake of Visions, pick an easy Warlock's Quest, complete it, get Talisman, turn it into 3 Gold. If you can, repeat for the other 3 Quests on LoV. He also never needs to land on any specific space to heal (or replenish Fate).

His fate replenishing with gold is very good

He don't have to worry about his alignment to heal or getting fate, as long as he has gold. i like that

You have a very good point about getting talismans and turning it for 3 gold.

That would boost the gold a lot

Still, warlock is quicker with spells, but the alchemist options are far more better.

The only drawback is that he has not the psychic attack ability

Thing is, if the Warlock somehow gets stuck with crappy Spells he can't use, he has no fallback option like the Alchemist, who can ignore his spell-cycling and work with this alchemise to heal or replenish Fate, which he can use very liberally indeed. Doing Warlock's Quests for Purchase cards doesn't really count as an option in my book, only time I could see doing that is when I have a Talisman already and get forced a Quest via Path of Destiny Spell, might take a Purchase card upon completing the Quest, depending on what he has in terms of Objects at that stage. Like you say, Alchemist has more options.

Warlock also can't attack via psychic combat, so they are tied on that front.

I fully agree.

the Warlock second ability will not be used often.

With the last sentence, i was only talking about the Alchemist, but both Alchemist and Warlock has not the psychic attack ability indeed.

I put the Alchemist in my second choice list, but maybe i change it to first choice.

I think that the Alchemist is better than he looks like. ( even if he has not the psychic attack ability)

Now that i am thinking further about the Alchemist,... as soon as the Alchemist has the chance to buy mules, he can change 3 magic objects in 9 gold and buy all the 4 mules from the market in one time..gran_risa.gif

After that, he can pick any object that he want (if possible) and carrying with him.

Or if Academy and instructor is on the board, he can (if he want) turn as much objects in gold and take as many trainings if possible..

That would boost a lot in level ups ! gran_risa.gifdemonio.gif
