Talisman: The Highland expansion

As I remember the 3th.edition mountain, it was a very dangerous place for followers, so maybe the Valkyries follower ability will come in handy.

cheers

Don't forget that followers can die in the Chasm. Also I recall there are some Dungeon cards that kill followers (Vampire Prince for one.)

Can the Valkyrie use her ability when other player's followers die? Or just her own? It just says "a follower."

I imagine it is much like the ability of the Gypsy to take discarded spells in that ANY follower that dies may be resurrected. My question is the Once per Turn note. Is taht per the Valkeries turn or is it like the errata fro the Swashbuckler and meant to say Once per Round?

I wonder if Hieromartyr+Valkyrie combo will work...

Valkyrie can only resurrect followers that are killed

The Hiermatyr must be discarded when you use him to prevent yourself from losing al ife..

discarding is not killed...??

We will be allowing her to take the follower at ANY time it is heading to the discard pile ... "killed" or not.

I'd wondered about this too...the hieromartyr card talks about "discarding"; if the Valkyrie's abilities STOP him from being discarded, does this matter?

If the Valkyrie can ressurect the hieromartyr, does that not give her infinite lives?

Valkyrie r esurrection abbility is refered only to killed and discarder followers from any character. She would be overpowered if she can take any discarded followers (Hag, Hieromartyr, St. Josephine etc) The only problem is to specify word kill which is not key word in Talisman.
I think Valkyrie can resurfect followers killed by Gladiator's opponent, Vampire Prince, Soul Drinker. I am not sure about Leper, Chasm, Warewolf Den, Warewolf. It should be clarified in FAQ.

I agree that we need a FAQ on this.

I'm also not very sure about anything here, but it seems reasonable that a "killed" Follower means "forced to discard". Every situation that forces you to discard a Follower is valuable for the Valkyrie.

Valkyrie should not be allowed to resurrect Followers that she or other Characters have put on the discard pile because they have used their special ability. Otherwise, as many people said, a Valkyrie with the Hieromartyr will be invincible in battle/psychic combat and if she gets St.Josephine nobody's going to bring her down in a normal CoC game.

But Champion, faithful hound, chasm mentions the ( Kill ) word ( if i am right)

So everything that says(discarded) will not work.

(but we need to include this in the FAQ,)

If Chasm is killing Followers in your games, from my POV, you're doing something wrong. Landing in Chasm only happens for us when A) you have Guide (or another ability that allows you to not roll there) or B) Planeswalker is there, meaning you encounter him first and aren't at Chasm long enough to have to roll. Throw in one-time exception for Misdirection.

As to the matter of the character herself, I'd say killed = slain, but nothing more. Discard-clauses definately wouldn't apply here (namely stuff like Hieromantyr, St. Josephine, etc.).

That's how I intend to play it until there is a FAQ to the contrary. As Croonos points out, ' killed ' is not a keyword in Talisman, it has no clear meaning to me.

I'd welcome that FAQ, though.

First let's wait to see what is said about this ability and the clarifying rules inside the Highland box before petitioning for a specific update in the FAQ.

I can scarcely believe that FFG would introduce a character that could shuffle through the discard piles to resurect some certain previouly killed follower but as it stand with the Valkyrie we are close. This is bordering on necro usage of discard pile.

Anyway I expect clarification inside the box.

I should be even once per game... . If not we can get another stalemate situation. When Valkyrie has Faithful Hound she could be unbeatable in pvp battle on CoC.

Sure, she can get a strength 3 dog to fight in her place, but it is not helping her actually beat the character off the crown of command. The strength 3 dog probably isn't going to beat a character strong enough to reach the crown either.

You need a lot of luck to draw the champion from a deck of 302 cards

The faithful hound can be draw from a deck of 128 cards..

She still need to get those cards to become unbeatable in battle..

I agree with ( Shadow) that the Dog will not help her to win from a strength +10 character, but it can lead to a stalemate..

PS: I can't find more followers with the (Killed) word.

I think the term killed means on its way to the discard pile from being killed in combat...if not the effect will get abused.

This is only my opinion as I like a good adventure when playing Talisman...I do not want to feel 'here we go again...' if the Valkyrie gets randomly picked by someone else!

Remember folks...it should be FUN...

So finally rules to Highland appears! They are so similar to Dugeon. I hope that they do not release Forrest with the same mechanics as well. PS. And there is nothing about key word kill preocupado.gif .

I am adding some new cards to the list.

Here is the list again..

Adventure cards:

Eyrie Vanguard, Landslid e, Roc

Relics cards:

Dreadwing, Windlord Amulet, Rage Talon, Arnkell

Highland cards:

Events:

Tumbling Boulder.

Enemies:

Harpy, Thundercrest, Storm Wing, Mountain dragon, Mountain Lion, Mountain Goat

Strangers:

Treasure Hunter, Cyclops, Astrologer

Magic objects:

Flight Potion?

Objects:

Diamond

Places:

Gong of War

Spell cards:

Simulacrum, Eyes of the Hawk, Mind Steal

I am glad, i see some retro cards again gran_risa.gif

Reading the rules,.. i see that the eagle king has strength 8 and craft 8.

That's good.

Characters can challenge the Eagle King in a earlier game, but they must still survive the Highlands to finally meet the Eagle King High upon the Eyrie.

The Rogue's artwork looks very good on page 10.

we also see a glimpse from a second ending card. gran_risa.gif

Yeepee for the rules, but hell, why an Eagle King like a f****in Avatar-s**t ... :(

Add Astrologer to the list, prob a Stranger!

I have no problems with the look of the Eagle King.

He looks pretty good gran_risa.gif

I think it has nothing to do with Avatar.. preocupado.gif
