The Treasure Hunter is a nice lady
The Gong was still missing for the dungeon expansion, and it seems that FFG is adding the gong now to the Highland expansion !!
I bet it's a place type card.
But what for type card should the Treasure Hunter be ?
I lean towards a stranger card..., but it can also be a follower... mmm
What do you all think?
I'm guessing it might be a stranger that steals gold and magic objects.... maybe.
A short list about the cards what we have seen, and which type card it should/could be..
Adding Gong of War and Treasure Hunter to the list.
-
Adventure cards:
Eyrie Vanguard
Treasure cards:
Dreadwing..?
Highland cards:
Events:
Tumbling Boulder.
Enemies:
Harpy, Thundercrest, Storm Wing, Mountain dragon
Strangers:
Treasure Hunter?
Magic objects:
Flight Potion?
Places:
Gong of War
Spell cards:
Simulacrum?
I hope that the Highland deck contains more events and adventure instead of hordes of enemies like the dungeon.
I look forward to see if the new miniatures are in 30mm scale like the most other Talisman miniatures, or if they keep creating them in 25mm scale like Necromancer and Warlock from Frostmarch... hmmm
There was some news yesterday from the Highlands, and i like the artwork from the Windlord Amulet...
So... the Highland has treasures too !
But if we read the story, it has only 4 treasures...
Relics...

Yeah oke... relics
So the large bird on the cover is the Eagle's King Mount
That appear as a relic in the game.
Nice !

That's a bit of a let down for me. I was keenly hoping for ten more treasures to add to the treasure deck! I like the random-treasure-for-completed-quests rule, but hate when the treasures run out.
Luckily, the relics can be play random too...
If not,.. then you can house rule it
Now that the Highland has less special cards,( known as relics) i hope that it contain more adventure cards for the mainboard or maybe something else...
I like the fact that Relics are introduced as distinct from Treasures. There are enough Treasures already crossing two expansions. Now there are again magic objects that you have to go some place specific to get them... instead of too easily through the quest rule. It means there's another reason to go into the Highlands! Every realm should have its own independent reason(s) for going there... the more individual the better for keeping those different realms enticing.
I agree with JC.
I also like the name Relics.
This way, each region has his own special type cards.
Jon New from Talisman Island sent me that link: www.tabletopgamingnews.com/2010/04/22/35503. Due to it, we can expect Highlands in the first half of May.
Great, because that increases the chances that the German edition of Frostmarch also comes in May (hopefully early), as announced.
EDIT:
Now I see Frostmarch reprint also in May. Yay!
Thanks for the clue-in, Nemomon (and Jon)!
Is there a release date?

Yes, I certainly see the advantage of each new region having its own reward deck. I just want more treasures! It's too bad Frostmarch didnt come with some extra treasures fr the Quest variant.
Well, maybe when the next small box expansion comes along (like with the last one), we'll see both new Treasures and new Relics. Fleshing out standard components, as well as offering a new theme, seems to be some of what those are about.

I'm not sure they'll release an expansion which requires other expansions to play. If they do, they should wait for all extra corner boards and make a super blender expansion! Trap doors in the Highlands, Quest cards relating to corner boards, Danse Macabre type endings, etc.
any gems in this expansion ?
( 3rd ed has 3 type of gems, could be sold at city gate for gold or used in houserules )
Magic Realm, now there is a game that I haven't played in about 20 years. LOL!

If we read the Highlands story, then there will be gems in this expansion.
There is new artwork on talisman island, and it's a retro card
I like the cyclops.
If i remember right,.... the cyclops is normally for the mainboard in 2th edition..
Roc is also nice!

Talisman island has give us a bonus sneak peek today !
If we look at the back of the box, we see a new alternate ending, and 2 new type cards( highland and relics cards)
I like the color of the cards.
The board looks awesome !
