BArcX

By warmdown, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi there,

I'm quite a new player and look for some feedback to one of my lists. It consists of one Arc-170 (Nora), one B-Wing(Ibtsam/Keyan) and one X-Wing(Biggs..), trying to find a cool name but only could come up with BArcX. I have two versions of it with different B-Wing setups and I would like to know how strong you would quantify the whole lists, where you see its weaknesses and which of them has more potential. I was not able to try this exact list before, but I practices a bit with Ibtisam in the past. I kind of like the idea to make use of the stress, which is the reason why I want to keep using it, even though the manoeuvrability with the B-Wing is pretty limited. I added the Arc simply because I like this ship and wanted to try the rear arc. Biggs is in the list keep the attention for the first rounds on him, so that the other two ships can make some serious damage without loosing to much shield tokens.

Norra Wexley (36)
ARC-170
R3 Astromech (2)
Marksmanship (3)
Tail Gunner (2)
Alliance Overhaul (0)
ints
Biggs Darklighter (29)
X-Wing
R2-D2 (4)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Ibtisam (v1) (35)
B-Wing
Fire-Control System (2)
Flechette Torpedoes (2)
Wired (1)
B-Wing/E2 (1)
Hera Syndulla (1)
or
Keyan Farlander (v2) (35)
B-Wing
Advanced Sensors (3)
B-Wing/E2 (1)
Jan Ors (2)

Total (100/100)

Thanks for your feedback! ^_^

Norra needs Push the Limit and either R2D2 or BB8 for the astromech. Otherwise, bring a different ARC pilot. Just a suggestion.

For Arc pilots I really like Shara Bey who can share target locks so your other pilots can focus on other actions and use her's as needed. Throw in a weapons engineer and MG-98 for even more target lock goodness.

So I finally can follow up on you guys. I played a few matches yesterday and lost all of them :D

After my third lost I exchanged to Thane Kyrell which definitely helped in the following game.

I was thinking about changing to Shara Bay, but I don't have the from you suggested upgrade cards.

Regarding the B-Wing my V2 with Keyan was not working well as well. On the other hand V1 with Ibtisam was pretty powerful. I want to try exchanging Keyan with Ibtisam and adding a HLC, and remove the torpedoes. Together with a lower ARC pilot skill, such as with Kyrell, I think I can improve my list. But honestly I don't think that it would work out at the end to win one or two games in a store championship. So probably I end up with exchanging one ship from my current list.

You guys have any suggestion which ship could improve my current list? My collection consists of one A-,E-, and two T-70 X-Wings as well as a second B-Wing.

Some suggestions for other pilots:

  • Nera Dantels - The torpedo turret. Combine with Fire-Control System or Deadeye.
  • Jake Farrell - Combine with Intensity (if you have it) or PTL to have quite a lot of re-positioning options.
  • "Snap" Wexley - If you have him, especially when used with BB-8, Vectored Thrusters and/or Intensity
  • Poe Dameron - Use with R2-D2 and PTL and try not to let him get focused on. Or pair him up with BB-8 and/or Vectored Thrusters and PTL and keep him out of arcs.

Alternately, dump all of the named pilots and most of the upgrades and go for numbers. You can get two T-70's and two B-wings with 8 points left over for upgrades or higher pilot skills. Or go with 1 Arc-170, 2 T-70's and 1 B-wing.

Also a suggestion for the future: if you like flying with astromechs, buy 1 or 2 Y-wings. Each Y-wing expansion pack comes with one copy of the R2 Astromech, which is possibly the most useful generic astromech on X-wings (or Y-Wings for that matter).

Here is some suggestions. Hope you can use them.
A good Norra build is this
Norra (29), PTL (3), BB-8 (2), Tail Gunner (2), Alliance Overhaul (0) 37
The idea is, that you take a green maneuver, then BB-8 lets you make a barrel roll action. You use PTL to take a Target Lock and receives a stress token. You then execute the green maneuver, which removes the stress. Then you use your normal action to take a focus.

The Nera Dantals B-wing build below can shoot tropedoes 360 degree and do it with a focus. She gets Target Locks to reroll dice from FCS and can change a blank to a crit because of chips and an focus to a crit because of Proton Torps, which statistically should result in two hits and two crits even without using rerolls. So your opponent will want to remove her as soon as possible and one green die without defensive tokens is really bad, so she needs to fly close to Biggs for protection.
My suggestion, based on your expansions, is this:

Norra (29), PTL (3), BB-8 (2), Tail Gunner (2), Alliance Overhaul (0) 36
Nera (26), Dead-Eye (1), FCS (2), Extra Munitions (2), Proton Torps (4), Chips (0) 35
Biggs (25), R2-D2 (4), Integrated Astromech (0) 29

Thanks Nspace - the more I look into Nera the more I like this pilot I will definitely give it a try! Unfortunately my collection lacks of having PTL, Deadeye and Intensity. Also when I think of Nera I feel like she is to expensive when not having extra munitions. But I will print the cards out and give it a try in a casual game.

thanks for sharing this list with me everyday ace and the PTL action sequence. As written before, I don't have most of the cards I need for that build, but I will give this list a try with printed out cards.

One more general question - how should I fly with Norra in general? She also only has one agility (like the b-wing) which resulted in my previous matches that she gets off the table pretty quick. Also I don't think that the tail gunner was so useful in my previous games as I barely used him. What other crew card could help?

Keep Norra and withinn range one of Biggs. That way she is protected.
When you move Norra allways secure, that there is room for Norras barrel-roll with BB-8, so you can get both the focus and TL. Remember you can use Norras TL defensible - use the the TL to get an extra focus die for evade after you roll evade dice for Norra.
