Terrain

By BergerFett, in Star Wars: Legion

Will there be some official 3-D terrain for this game?

I would love to some well done Star Wars terrain for gaming.

I doubt there will be any official terrain.

Start building now boys!

Just to confirm, this is a 28mm scale game right?

So terrain for other games should be just fine.

How does terrain work in this? Will FFG provide some kind of tiles?

my guesses are runewars style but to the etsy and shapeways for 3d printed star wars terrain.

the fact that tabletop companies genuinely dont produce their own terrain kinda amazing, so many people want it.

also who wants Popsicles i need me an ewok village.

No one knows yet. It would seem smart to reuse all those imperial assault moulds though

It would be a first for FFG to produce 3D terrain like what they are demoing. Than again this game is very different than what they typically make so who knows. In the starter you'll probably see cardboard like Rune Wars.

My 3D printer is gonna get a workout.

I think Administratum ruins or a Mancufactotum with their countless skulls and aquilas will look appropriate for star wars universe.

Oh wait, no they won't. (maybe as a sith temple?)

according to the new release page (emphasis by me)

Quote

With thirty-three unpainted and easily assembled miniatures, and all the cards, movement tools, tokens, and terrain that you need for battle, the Star Wars : Legion Core Set is the perfect way to bring Star Wars battles to your tabletop.

This probably only includes barriers and obstacles. Maybe the bunker but highly doubt it.

The terrain they reference will probably be like the "terrain" in Runewars Minis, which is just printed top-down view onto chip-board.

I'm starting a line of 3d printed terrain for Legion, Here is a early prototype of a downed pilot objective marker.

I think the only terrain in the box is the 8 barricades. Also on the covenant podcast with Alex Davy he said they plan on making articles and videos on how to make your own terrain.

Range 1 is 6 inches, so Luke can jump and speeders can move over that.

I think the figures are 32mm, so a human is 1.26 “.

So I'll go with that when making my terrain.

It's some kind of weird 32-34mmish scale. Your existing 28mm terrain should work if you squint whenever a figure stands next to a door.

If the figures are 32mm ish, what do you think the base size is?

Hi guys,

I'm building a gaming board for Star Wars legion. Here's a video i've made on how you can build one too. Hope this is helpful.

Good of you to walk us through even the most basic steps! I look forward to following along.

If you're looking to decorate your gaming boards with convincing Star Wars scenery, here are a couple of suggestions. These are photos of cards from the Star Wars Customizable Card Game (printed by decipher, 1995 to 2001). Pretty good reference details though.

A couple of people on ebay and etsy are printing their own 3D crates and such for Imperial Assault. The scale will therefore be pretty close. I have found someone selling Vaparators at 1:72 scale, which to be honest, don't look at all bad among Imperial Assault miniatures, so those might be worth buying too. I've seen someone selling 3D printed fusion generator supply tanks, but mis-labeled as Crates.

Amazing reference idea. Thanks!

Found this excellent article on how someone built a Star Wars speeder prop from scratch using some really inventive techniques. He went to incredible levels of detail. You have to admire the way some people can look ordinary, every day household objects and re-imagine them as something they've seen on screen. We can learn a lot off people like him.

Great video! I'm looking forward to continuing!

It also does my heart good to see someone pull out some old Star Wars CCG cards! :)

That last scratch built model is awesome. Thanks for the link to that also!

It's always nice to hear someone who remembers SWCCG. Makes today's SW card games look like top trumps.

Have updated another thread with some of latest terrain progress. It probably belongs here more than in the other thread.

to an extent...Star Wars vehicles at the scale of 1/48 seem to be the right size.
