People asked for the gunboat, and they got the gunboat. This is a case of 'be careful what you wish for'. Considering you can reload, I don't think it is a big deal.

Bad pilot ability and bad PS requiring VI really destroy the high-meta viability of most ships. See Kestal, Norra, Tie Bomber. Yeah, they'll be fine in T2/casual/every apologist's reality who are unable to figure out that good stuff does not mean T1. But not in T1.

We've seen one pilot. I will reserve judgement on the ship until I have seen all pilots.

So because the gunboat might be bad FFG are jumping the shark? I'd agree on the Kilo fighter as that is very bottom barrel. Phantom II, not so much I think.

The Gunboat was never going to meet the expectations of the forum. It'll probably be a fun, solid ship, but it won't be the superfighter that some seem to remember it as.

Let's not judge it or the other ships before we see more info.

Gunboat was never a superfighter, it was a workhorse. That's like calling Thug Lyfe Ywings "superfighters".

Some forum members, maybe. Personally I'd have bought and flown it if it had Z-95 stats.

As it stands, it looks really, really good to me. Everything I hoped for and more. I can't wait.

They put the Legion article up pretty quick...which basically says nothing since its a completely new game and pretty much just "Look what were coming out with! More SW minis!"

IIRC, the last couple of years the Wave announcement article has turned up the week after GenCon, not the same day.

This statement is super confusing. The game is jumping the shark because the gunboat might be bad? If that isn't it, than how does the gunboat being pretty good save the game from jumping the shark?

For reference, I love the game how it is, although I find the reaction to the gunboat puzzling. This is the only forum I've ever been on that has a massive love affair with the Assault Gunboat of all ships.
