Command Shuttle and IG-88

Hi,

We had a question yesterday about a weak combo:

Command shuttle special:

- Use a special ability () on one of your characters.

Ig-88
- Play a Yellow weapon or equipment from your discard pile on this character, decreasing its cost by 2
We came to 2 conclusion:
-More likely: Use a special (That you see ON) one of your character. If read that way, cool, but in the case of IG-88 it's the command shuttle that use it, and special will fizzle since command shuttle is not a character and cannot receive the upgrade.
-Less likely: Use a special (The one you want) ON one of your character (You would have to use the special to target your character), thus allowing IG to receive the weapon.
-Was also a 3rd way to interpret that.
We ended choosing the 1st one, but we were still not 100% sure IG could not receive the weapon.

Seems pretty straightforward to me: youre using IG88s special. So you play a yellow weapon or equipment on ig88 reducing its cost by 2.

Same way when you command shuttle anakin then anakin takes the 1 damage, not the shuttle.

Happy to be proved wrong, but it seems obvious to me.

Despite the differences in wording, it essentially works the same as Cunning - i.e. you resolve the special as if it was being activated by the character in question, applying all the same restrictions/costs and effects. So yes, you can use it to trigger IG-88's ability.

Hummm... we also used to compare shuttle to cunning... but...

If you cunning IG ability, the weapon will appear on cunning's owner, not on IG.

I don't actually think that's true. Because when you use Cunning in Vader's special, Vader takes the damage, not Cunning's owner. When you use Cunning on Thermal Detonator or Infantry Grenades, you discard the bombs, not Cunning. And they all have the same wording, (this card, this character) which is the same as IG. Cunning, as well as the Command Shuttle (which has a much narrower field of usable symbols), trigger the ability on the card itself, not triggering the ability as if Cunning or Command Shuttle were the card. So in the same way that Cunning blows up Thermal Detonator, and Command Shuttle harms Vader, the upgrade will be placed on IG, no matter who or what die is triggering his ability.

No, it will not.

You are using IG88 special. You are not changing cunning's special for IG88's.
It's kind like if you "activate" IG special side.

Ok, you think that no matter if you use Shuttle or Cunning, IG''s gonna end with the weapon.

It makes more sense if you think of it as taking the character putting it in front of you, using it as if it was yours then handing it back.
