That's correct though. Faan Langelaan was 1st in Swiss with a double Shadow Caster list but had to drop out of the tournament.

Dormitz - Hyper Wave Comm

Quickdraw and Backdraft with Hyperwave, Cruise Missiles and a bunch of other upgrades I’m not totally sure of. But suffice to say this list would jump you right at the start and maul you. Most people couldn’t escape it.

Wow... Maybe I should run this again. I have only tried it once and got tabled. Never gave it another chance.

Anyone know what Jesper was flying?

Did his wife go into labor or something? Who goes 6-0 at a National event and is like, "Nah, I'm good. You guys have fun with the rest of the tourney!"

Personal emergencies suck, but it sounds like he was on fire.

So full list was

Dormitz with Collision Detector and 2x Hyperwave Comm Scanner

QuickDraw with Adapt, Cruise, FCS, Title, Chips, Hyperwave Comm Scanner

Backdraft with VI, Cruise, Collision Detector, Title, Chips, Hyperwave Comm Scanner

Quickdraw would end up with focus focus evade and Backdraft with focus evade. You could coordinate another focus but I get the impression that it was mostly corordinate a barrel roll to get another half base forward.

Obviously you need to do some serious damage with your opening and leverage the high ps and damage output of Quickdraw and Backdraft to close.

I think a lot of the list will be practising the opening setup so you can’t be caught off guard by an opponent that knows what you are doing.

You always set up all ships after them which helps.

Paul was running

Assaj - Latts Razzi and PTL

Thweek - both titles, FCS and Autothrusters

Contracted Scout - Trick Shot, Rigged Cargo and Intel Agent

99pts

Paul ran a lot of Parattanni so it’s a lot of the same pieces. Thweek is more or less a Sustained Fire Ace similar to Fenn but not as dangerous. The Intel Scout and Assaj are really just parts of the toolkit you use as necessary.

I came 2nd with

Darth Vader - VI, Title, ATC, Engine

Quickdraw - VI, Title, FCS, LWF, Pattern Analyser

OGP - Palp, Collision Detector

100pts

it was a pretty tough final. I feel like Paul’s list has the tools to beat my list but I did manage to find a win condition halfway through the match. Unfortunately Vader couldn’t punch through Assaj fast enough to get to a cat and mouse endgame against Thweek where Vader would have won at time.

I tried really hard to get a win for the Imperials this Nationals season but alas, it was not to be. Paul is a great opponent though and we play each a lot, but he is definitely on a roll at the moment.

From playing my list a lot I have to say I really don’t like the Palp LWF interaction. I know that it isn’t super clear in the FAQ but we played it at this tournament that you Palp the 2 or the 1 and ca only change the dice you Palp before. What I dong like about the interaction is the high level of gambling involved. The change to Palp is fine, and knowing when to use Palp is interesting from a game standpoint, but the way that these two cards currently interact takes away good choice for a Palp player and just makes it all bad choice, which makes me super reluctant to actually use Palp on either roll. This is most noticeable against TLT (which I faced a lot in this tournament). To be clear I’m not really talking about whether the ruling/clarification is bad or good, just that as a player it’s actually immensely frustrating chasing Palp in LWF. If all 3 LWF dice were rolled at the same time it would be much less so.

Also unsurprisingly I faced Turrets in every single game (all 9). It’s rough, but doable.

The rest of the top 8

3rd

Dash - Lone Wolf, Rey, Counter Measures, Title, HLC

Lothal Rebel - Hera, Autoblaster, Gunner, FCS

4th

Dormitz - Hyper Wave Comm

Quickdraw and Backdraft with Hyperwave, Cruise Missiles and a bunch of other upgrades I’m not totally sure of. But suffice to say this list would jump you right at the start and maul you. Most people couldn’t escape it.

5-8

Rey - Expertise, Sloop Title, Kanan, Finn

Miranda - 3p0, TLT, Bomblet, LRS

Torkil - TLT, Greedo, Moldy Crow Title

2x Lok Revenant - Deadeye, Harpoons, EM, GC, Autoblaster Turret

Biggs, Lowrick, Jess, Rex. Standard FSR, Lowie has Tactician.

And the one list I didn’t see was Thweek, Lok revenant and something else which might have been a Khirazx.

So lots of variety in the top 8 which is good. We had 18 Rebel, 13 Imperial and 12 Scum start day one and ended with 3/2/3 in the top 8.

Definitely a fun tournament.

I agree 100% on your Palp analysis! Love the list by the way, congrats on a great tournament!

Thanx! I'll add it up! Only 4 more to go!

The whole interaction is super odd with Palpatine. But on the plus side, I can roll two dice and decide if I need an evade or not on the third dice. So it is not always bad. It just awkward and most of the time bad. ^_^

Yeah, I think having him for the 3rd die is the right call, unless dice failure will kill you. Then you have to gamble.

The choice is essentially the same as C-3PO crew. You always guess the 5/8 chance of no evade, and 3/8 of the time you guessed wrong and evaded anyway. And sometimes, as you say, you know you don't need Palp at all after the first roll.

Live Steam was here: https://go.twitch.tv/outpostgent?sr=a
But they forgot to activate recording or something, because twitch does not have the usual "past broadcasts" option to watch it afterwards.

Spark of Rebellion has as far as I know only Day 1, but I might be wrong.

Yeah it’s super awkward.

I also think more analysis rather than instinct will help. Normally Palping for an Evade is just that, you get the Evade and move on. Most of the time it matters.

Against TLT with LWF Against 3 hits is pretty much no win.

But a good example of a time where I read it completely wrong is this - I have a focus. I roll focus blank against 3 hits (all shields up on Quickdraw). I Palp an Evade on the LWF. The problem is there is another attack incoming. So because I’m spending that focus the right call is probably to roll because 5/8 is going to be a good result. Palp is only helping me if I roll a blank. Because there is another shot incoming, Palp could help me there too.

This actually did happen in the final. I ended up losing all my shields instead of 2. A second round of double shooting and 1 extra health probably would have put me in a fantastic position. Unfortunately it’s a dice game and sometimes it doesn’t work out.

I loved our game (round 5 of swiss, Dengar/Ketsu), never seen a list like it and you flew it really well. Was nicely cinematic when Dengar and QD blew each other to pieces in a hail of return salvoes!

That list wasn’t actually me, I just got further details on it so posted the full thing. It does look fun though.

Quickdraw for Dengar is a Trade I’ve made many times before, it’s almost as if that is what she is there for in a list.

Any videos from Belgian nationals? Or I missed the link in 18 pages?

The top 8 looked to be a nice mix of the three factions, which was very refreshing.

Jelte is extremely well versed with Palp Aces. Flying against him can be a truly humbling experienced.
