Does anyone else use only ONE base peg?

By deogg, in X-Wing

I was playing around with some of my build lists today (aka, I was playing with my toys dangit!!! LOL), and I had everything all set up, and I just did NOT like using both pegs to put the ships on. I went through and put them all on one peg instead of two. I think it looks a lot better, you can still see everything on the card (also tried this with Star Trek Attack Wing, and I dig it there too). It might cause some minor issues when you have the BIG ships (Tantive IV for example; I dunno for sure, since I don't own any), but I think it just looks better.

What about all of you? Or am I just weird(er than usual)?

Some ships you pretty much have to without mods ( bwing, starviper) but usual practice around our flgs is 1 peg.

I have certain ships and pilots that get one or two pegs:

Tie fighter/fo one peg unless it is an ace.

Z95 two, unless I have multiple, when they might be one for one and two for the other, and the ace rule applies here as well.

VT one.

YT one.

"Aces" two.

And obviously ships like the B that need two.

I've been using one peg since I started. The main reason was so that if the pegs broke I would have extras. That's not a problem now but I still think it looks better.

Breaking pegs was a concern as well.

Only one on most small base ships

Only one magnetized large peg on large ships

Two pegs when needed (looking at you, viper)

3 for K and SCURRG

Just one, even for the Viper.

I mix it up, depending on what my opponent is flying and how many pegs are being used by them. Usually I go with a mix on my ships so as to minimize models bumping one another, mine and theirs. Mixed levels is the best way for me.

I usually use two. If I fly something where ships will be close together, I use 2 and 3 first, and 1 peg if a third ship flies nearby the 2 and 3 peg ones.

Usually 1 unless I have to use 2

I'll use 6 sometimes if I feel its appropiate.

I use 1 unless that's impossible.

It really bothers me with more than 1 peg as the ships get a slight lean to them (or I perceive one)

Mostly, I just use one peg for small ships and two for large ships. Sometimes, I use two pegs on small ships to help remind me that there is something "special" about that one.

some NEED two like mentioned above. If I'm flying two identical ships (example: core X-Wing and expansion X-Wing), I'll put one fighter on two pegs, the other on one to help tell them apart at a glance. Large ships I've been keeping on a single peg to help avoid breakage and avoid most model collisions since small fighters I'll normally keep on two pegs.

And some like the ig-2000 don't need any pegs.

I used to only ever use one. Then I started using 2 for aces and 1 still for generics. That way I could easily tell them apart while playing. Lately I've been using more generics so I usually put one or two on 1 base and the other 1 or 2 on two bases. I also always put my blue target lock in the slot on my base so it's ready to go and just assign the red one as needed, so usually that requires 2 pegs.

Once my buddy flew 8 Z95s in a tournament and put them on 1-8 pegs respectively instead of using base numbers. It was hilarious!

1, 2, and 3.

I often use no pegs.

One pegs looks more natural/cool

There's something about a pegless A-Wing that makes it look even sleeker.

2 Pegs as the box says.

.......and I am the only one who use both of them, reading this topic lol

Yup. And IG-88 looks like a predatory beetle.

2 on everything but Kylo Rens shuttle, that gets one because it's so easy to knock over. Will adjust pegs during gameplay if there's a cluster of ships but usually I just remove the ship from the base until it moves to a location where it won't physically hit other ships...

I always use two - one just looks odd to me, feels too low. Particularly with TIEs, as their wings are just about scraping the mat (or at least that's how it feels).

My Decimator usually rides on a single peg, though, as for some reason it seems to sit a little wonky on two. With its long, low body, I think it looks all right on just the one.

I sometimes denote high-to-low PS with pegs; Aces up on three, mid on two, low PS on one.

Helps me keep track.
