Found a Rebel Fighter group I want to try; but I need advice on supporting it

By Squark, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So, in order to get free shipping on an order, I finally got a fourth pack of Rogues and Villains, and that fourth YT-2400 lends itself to a LFC (To use the term used by geek19 and sniperfist) I've been toying with for a while.

The basic concept is

Jan Ors (19 points)

3 X-wing Squadrons (39 points total)

4 YT-2400s (64 points total)

Total: 122 points

However, I'm running into a bit of a dilemna as to how much support these fighters need. Obviously, Jan and the X-wings need something to activate them, but beyond that, I'm not sure how much I should be spending on upgrades to support them. An Assault Frigate with Expanded Hanger Bays and Flight Controllers would give the list a nice first strike, and I could add Gallant Haven and Toryn Farr for additional tech, and at that point Biggs starts to become cost effective... And now half my points are gone, and I haven't even picked a commander, and I've only got one activation. Does anyone have any advice for filling out a rebel fighter build? I'd really rather not have more than two flotillas if it can be avoided, but I'm struggling to get activations in without the third set of Gr-75s.

Thanks for the help, and sorry if this came off a tad disorganized.

I ran a fun one at a tournament that had a guppy, a hammerhead, two flotillas and Yavaris. It was a pretty fun build that did ok.

Leia commander

Hammerhead scout- task force antilles, expanded hangar, flight controllers

x4 Hammerhead Torpedo- task force antilles, ordnance experts, external racks

Puts you at 399.

Subtract 1 torp and add bright hope + toyn to run a bigger bid (it gives you 20 left, which means you have an additional 4-7 points to play with and have a still competitive bid)

Thanks for the feedback; sorry I didn't give you more to go on.

After going back to the drawing board, I thought I'd try going relatively light with fighter support; just two flotillas who can push the x-wings or critically wounded YT-2400s, maybe with comms net if points allow. However, I'm still unsure what commander to go with- Mon Mothma, Cracken, or Dodonna seem like the best choices, but I'm really not sure which to use. Mon Mothma is an old favorite of mine, but I don't have any room for upgrades if I take her and want a decent bid. Cracken gives me a decent bid and room for a few tiny upgrades, but he's kind of non intuitive to me since I've generally found that going fast usually means I've messed up positioning (with how I play, at least*), while Dodonna is, well, cheap. I'm also not sure if Jaina's Light or the Admonition should be the flagship.

*Of course, positioning isn't always my strong point, so maybe that's a moot point.

With your ship setup, I just can't help but think that the YT-2400 points wouldn't be better served adding a TRC90 to the list. at 5 activations, there is a fairly good chance you are going to be giving away last activation, which you want so the MC30's don't soak too much damage. Taking the YT's out and running 4 X-wings and Jan in their place evens your points out.

Also, dead ships don't do damage. Dodonna is great, but in today's world you need to be able to survive up close. That means Mothma. Or Rieekan.

Also, if your opponent runs an Avenger ISD and beat you in the bid you are in for a super tough fight, because one of the MC's is going to get vaporized.
