ViscerothSWG was clearly making a tongue in cheek comment. Obviously people attending gencon aren't going to choose lists just to put pressure on FFG. It would be funny to force them to come up with answers to a lot of unanswered questions, but it's not an actual solution to being FAQless.

You know, FFG can release a FAQ without making it effective immediately.

They could release it and say "Effective August 21st, 2017" on it.

Funny you should say that, someone actually did that in Netrunner. I can't remember if it was at GenCon or worlds, but someone played a card with a 'trash an installed card' cost to use an ability, which didn't clearly state one of your own installed cards, and called a judge over every game to get a ruling when he attempted to trash his opponent's cards to pay the cost.

Granted that's one card in a deck of 45-49 versus at least a quarter of your list, so it's a bit different, but people are nuts.

Exactly, with all the upheaval the leak created why would FFG in there right mind release it? After all as soon as a new FAQ is out people will be complaining about their fix (nerf) was not added in and FFG should go bankrupt and no one should ever play X-wing again because of it.
