Vaksai (News)

By Arkanta974, in X-Wing

Oh man, and the missile still does normal damage? Love it.

Let an Imp tag Biggs, and then use a Ruthlessness to follow up, that could be a lot of damage being tossed out.

Jostro is clearly set up to work with the Harpoon Missile, but I also see him being a valuable option with Nym.

That stealth device with scavenger crane combo seems pretty good/fun/interesting.

Jostero ermagahd. Bombs, mines, rocks, debris, BMST, Anti Pursuit Lasers, Arc Casters, Assault Missiles, Console Fire... we need to compile a full list of potential triggers, stat!

To be fair, Jostero is a lot harder to get the multi-strike. I'd be surprised to see him get it more than twice, and even twice is a stretch.

Then again, we need a clarification on "damage from an attack" - i would assume that applies to splash effects, since the source is an attack, but the target in question did not defend from that attack. If splash damage counts to triggering him, oh boy.....

eh, Jostero isn't a ps 9 jump with a self sufficient, universal condition though

he's very conditional ps 4 Vaksai that can't reliably trigger his own ability

True, but he's darn cheap for what you get, and like everything Scum he gets an EPT for some reason. He can easily strap on Black Market Slicer Tools or Feedback Array or Seismic Torps (all at a reduced price).

Still him as you need twice the amount of ace packs while most likely still not flying 4 star vipers outside of epic? ^_^

Because no epic scum this time. With the Croc everything change :P

ner, damage from stuff like ruthlessness comes from the card triggering off of the attack (not the attack itself)

also, if jost straps on feedback he can't attack normally so it's just one attack total anyway for self-damage and an ion. not terribly impressive. BMST is not reliable at all and eats an action for mods

Harpooned is awesome!

It's not damage from an attack. It's damage + "not defending", so splash clearly triggers.

They also use it as example in the preview

just thought of something amusing...

Jostero triggers off Painbot damage.....LOL! oh im going to love that since i use that bot a ton as it is.

True, but PRS can let you Regen those shields and is practically free with the title. And it's still +1 Damage over normal attacking. Heck, add the Ion Dissipator thing to not even take the Ion token from Feedback Array...

ion thinger is also illicit, no dice there

Only ship that can take the Ion Discharger and Feedback Array is the Lancer, and that thing isnt very likely to use both since it has a mobile arc gun thingy going for it. If scum ever get another, preferebly smaller ship with double illicits you betcha that combo is going to show up.

it'd be a six point combo between feedback/discharger and rey shield, four points without rey shield

+4 points on a suicidal ship isn't ideal unless aces start dominating again

Fair enough, but I still think there are ample ways to make Jostero work. Mark my words, he and Cobra will be the two Vaksai uniques getting play.

The ability to attack twice is just too sweet, as it effectively approaches doubling your value in the squad. It's why Dengar is the only ship to go back-to-back World Championships and why he's the only fat turret currently enjoying widespread success. Attacking twice makes you almost twice as valuable, and helps curb points invested.

It's defending from an attack. So if you aren't rolling defense dice and get a damage, this dude can attack.

Three scurrgs with harpoon and chips to get the crit. Give me three missile shots against fairship and rex is dead, if I shot jess shes dead beneath shields and lowrick and Biggs are left with half health.

This is an incredible Ace pack. Scum keeps going strength to strength.

Don't see any viable application, but Jostero would activate off Seismic Torpedoes. I like those.

Yes, yes they do. :,-(

I'm whelmed again...

Sure, but you can already do triple Assault Missiles nowadays, and those aren't generally viable because as nice as it is against FSR, it's far more useless against Nym, Miranda, Dengar, and other high PS non-formation enemies.

PS: With only three attacks, you wouldn't be able to trigger all three Harpoons to go off, so Rex would live through the turn (unlike triple Assault Missiles, which would kill him out right).

Don't be too sad, it'll be nice to see those sexy Starvipers on the mat more.

It's slightly annoying that they made an almost Assault Missiles card (same intent of effect) with about three times the text and way more different mechanics.

It gives the target some things to think about though. I like it. A viable assault missile would be less interesting than this. For both players.

Begone Fair Ships 2.0 ;-)

Question: would harpooned condition trigger when using I Bossk ability? All that needs to happen is be hit by an attack (check) have an uncancelled crit (same as bossk). The condition doesn't say you have to suffer a critical damage.
