Is there some gameplay reason that Way of the Scorpion can't target Scorpion characters?
To me it looks like it just penalizes scorpion players who use it that get randomly matched with other scorpions, or that bring it to a scorpion heavy meta. Is it a flavor thing? I never got the impression that scorpions were above betraying/dishonoring each other...
If it's meant to keep you from targeting your own characters for some future card interaction, it could just be "non-friendly character."

Loyalty is the most important virtue that any samurai can ever have. We are loyal to our clan. Even to death or dishonor.
Mechanically I feel this card is just a dark symmetry of the way of the crane, and like all the way of cards it is clan specific. Thematically, yes, loyalty is the greatest virtue espoused by the scorpion. Other clans value other bushido qualities

Sounds like a rather Scorpionish thing to do. Enlist the aid of others to help you out, then when they've fulfilled that purpose, turn on the unsuspecting dupes and dishonor them for some other nefarious purpose, extending their usefulness to your clan! Granted, I have no idea what that usefulness is as of yet, but I look forward to seeing it!
Blackmail pull in a guy, then dishonor them, send them back.

In AGoT terms, the targeting restriction is "Ned-ly". To the Scorpion clan, the biggest sin one can make is to betray the clan.
Remember that only Traitor's are taken to Traitor's Grove.

Virtually anything that the Scorpion can accuse someone of, is something that people assume the Scorpion themselves are also guilty.

Yeah I said it in another thread that I thought it was quite thematic as a "guilt by association" type card. The ninja on the card is probably jumping around "not being seen" delivering messages to that character...
