Swarming with Aggressors

By Ronu, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So though these two up. The LN's create chaos while getting some extra output from the TLT's

Sienar Specialist x2: TLT and LWF

Acadamy Pilot x4

98 pts

or Sienar Specialist X2 TLT LWF

Howlrunner Crackshot

BLk. Sqd. pilot x2: Crackshot

99 pts

I haven't played a ton of TIE Swarms but I wonder if howlrunner is worth it with only two black squadron pilots benefiting as it won't boost the TLT's (only primary weapon re-rolls) so based on that alone I'd say the first list, that being said TLT Aggressors are excellent and I like the idea

No idea how well this build would work, but what about Jonus Aggression.

Capt. Jonus (22)

lightweight frame (2)

3x Sienar Specialist (17)

TLT (6)

LWF (2)

99 pts

Jonus prevides the rerolls for all those TLT shots.

I think you mean 3x Sienar Spec. And I believe the "X-Wing Math" has been done that 4 TLT does more consistent damage than 3 TLT with Jonus Rerolls

Aha okay that would make sense. I was just crafting a "howlrunner" style list that w/ the OP

Are these gonna be too easy to pop???

4x Sienar Specialist (17)

ABT (2)

1x Sienar Specialist (17)

TLT (6)

With good piloting, you could have a wall of blockers to catch aces in and ruin their day fast.

Well, ABT works on Y-Wings, so with that Barrel Roll that should be as feasible as it sounds. This against Fenn, flown right, should be downright evil.

Interesting point on Howlie.... what about some of the other aces? Mauler Mithel Backstabber ect?

If you wanted some 'support', then Mauler Mithel & Scourge, both with Snap Shot, might work; the goal of the TIE fighters is presumably to play 'lineman' to stop people getting at the Twin Laser turrets?

If you're going to be getting in people's faces as they go for the aggressors, Snap Shot is nice, and those two can potentially unload 3-dice snap shots, which is actually quite threatening.

The academy pilots are a nice (probably better) alternative option - with 4 warm bodies you can block better, and with 4 2-dice attacks you can chop up agility 0 targets with loads of health like nobody's business.

So took this to a local friendly game today to test it out. Opponent ran Rebel Nym and Two Rookie Pilot T-65's. So Split up the Aggressors and TIE l/ns into groups of 2/1. TLT's do what they do and then with a couple of blocks and the ability to turn away from NYM and the bomblets and keep pushing damage through way beyond helpful. Managed to not lose a ship but again not against the meta either. Certainly effective though.
