New to the Imperials

By Stovrose38, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm doing a CC again, but this time as imperials, and I'm not sure which way to take it, this is the best I came up with...

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 399/400

Commander: Grand Moff Tarkin

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Capture the VIP
Navigation Objective: Intel Sweep

[ flagship ] Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer (110 points)
- Grand Moff Tarkin ( 38 points)
- Boarding Engineers ( 2 points)
= 150 total ship cost

Victory II-Class Star Destroyer (85 points)
- Quad Battery Turrets ( 5 points)
= 90 total ship cost

Victory II-Class Star Destroyer (85 points)
- Quad Battery Turrets ( 5 points)
= 90 total ship cost

1 Saber Squadron ( 12 points)
1 Ciena Ree ( 17 points)
1 "Howlrunner" ( 16 points)
3 TIE Fighter Squadrons ( 24 points)

Looks fine as a starting list. Most wanted is more usual when you have a small ship in your list so you don't give away 85 extra points if one dies.

Could swap out a QBT for Flight controllers on one ship to get more punch out of the fighters and of course get snipe(6) with a swarm reroll. I one shotted Jan once from a supporting cast of X-wings, 2 Accuracies and 4 hits.;)

As far as commanders go I think Jerry or Motti would serve you better than Tarkin. That frees up at least 14 more points for fighters. If they're not available then Vader or possibly even Konstantine would be good choices. If nobody else claimed it upgrade a TIE F to Black Squadron. It won't benefit from Howlrunner but does give her an escort and Black Squadron has a chance to gain Veterancy.

Id honestly drop one of the Vics to a 1, and use the extra 13pts to upgrade your ISD1 to an ISD2, and those boarding engineers to a XI7 turbolaser.

The Vic 1 has good firepower, and if youre herding with SDs you can play to use it- but it gains *alot* from that blue die. The XI7s really help vs rebel ships though, so Id consider the ISD naked without one, whether you go ISD1 or 2.
