I'm buying one of Mel's Miniatures Assault frigate models. I did not paint any of my ships, so I want to paint the model I get to fit in with the existing paint jobs. What brand/colors should i be looking for? I'm aiming for a color scheme to match the Assault frigate mk2

It seems like a dull gray base. Dark gray for the non-armored hull. Dull red trim/highlights. Some kind of wash.

Good question, and one I would like to know as well. I'd like to know on all the ships if people have a good guess. I know Ghost Grey Game Color is the closest I have to a lot of the rebel ships, such as transports and Nebs, but I don't think it's good enough.

The wash is a dirty black wash... Nuln oil will get close if you're able to thin it down a little...

For just about everything rebel but the Assault Frigate, Vallejo Ivory with a brown ( GW Agrax Earthshade ) emulates the White-Tan colour of the Rebel ships as a base colour.

Unfortunately, I don't have an original colour assault Frigate at the moment ot match it, but when I do, I'll let you know.

Most of my basic Greys end up being GW Dawnstone - its that base neutral grey with a tinge of brown to it... GW Skavenblight Dinge goes further in that direction.

I'm not OCD about this one. I'm just aiming for that dirty, tired looking gray and a faded looking red. If it is off a bit, that is okay.

I'd look at GW Wazdakka Red for the Red... Its applied haphazardly, with a bit of a sponge effect to show it chipping off - but the Wazdakka is a deeper red than say, the Evil Suns Scarlet they have - it ends up being a brighter, blood-like Red...

I use GW's bone white and add a little Vallejo sky grey to get that "rebel white" for my rebel ships. It's just a smidge whiter than FFG's stock color and takes weathering a lot better imho

for my reds I use Vallejo flat red and mix a little Vallejo natural grey to tone it down

i like my ships dirty so I use a liberal wash of watered down Vallejo flat black
