HOTE at GenCon?

By FSD, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So I was looking thru the Upcoming Releases and noted that the L5R LCG went on the boat the same day HOTE did. We know they are selling early release copies of L5R and having many launch events at GC.

Should we hold out hope that we may be able to purchase advanced copies of HOTE at GC as well?

I'd imagine it'll probably be there. Droids were at some cons this spring before their release, too.

Yeah I'm sure all of their "on the boat" stuff will be available early at GenCon. That's usually how it goes.

I thought with the Hasbro boardgame issue that they can't sell them? Or am I wrong on this.

What Hasbro board game issue?

Hasbro has the license to make star wars board games. If you look on Ffg product page for IA you can't buy them on their site. I figured since that issue it would also apply to cons as well or am I wrong on this?

From my understanding this is correct but I believe IA was on sale at the Hasbro booth last couple of Gencons if I remember correctly.

HOTE at gencon means that we will have a lot of unofficial spoilers... Right?

When is this gencon when should get information?

While I would love for it to be available at gencon already and quickly thereafter for everyone else, if it is, that would honestly be a rather disappointing management of the news run for this wave of IA when there should be a minimum of three spoiler articles still to come (and arguably a Fourth for skirmish theme in the big box). The droid wave articles were all already revealed I believe before worlds (when they were available early on site). I could be wrong but I'm not going to check my thread on release dates/news articles tonight.

My low expectation now is a reveal for the next wave - probably some standalone figure packs. My reach goal would be mention of when the app will be released. But I doubt HotE will be available yet. Just my guess :) and I'd love to be wrong.

They can't sell them directly, if I understand them correctly. But they can sell through vendors, and I know people have purchased IA components at cons in the past. I wonder if IA just hires a vendor to attend cons and set up a table right next to them. That would be hilarious.

I know they were selling the droid wave in the FFG Center last Worlds.

100% agreed. Unless they have a news dump this week (like Tuesday and Friday). Personally, I'd rather they don't do this UNLESS, they've got enough stuff in the hopper to keep us fully engaged with news for the rest of the year:)

You never know, they could say "Oh by the way, here's that Endor small box you were expecting."

They can sell their stuff at their own store specifically because it is a fully stocked, open to all local game store - not just FFG stuff. Least that's what I'm guessing since they can sell all of their IA stuff at their local store (not just new things ahead of time). And they don't/aren't allowed(?) to sell IA on their website, which is exclusively FFG products being sold, not a wide spectrum of games (which their headquarters store is).

And far as I know IA is the only product line they have this problem with because it is so close to being a "Star Wars board game". I don't know any of the specifics of the hasbro deal or how much it affects, this is all just from having heard about it on the forums for years now and how it works in my mind, for what it's worth. Definitely open to more info :)

I'm hoping they pull a worlds and fill an empty spot later in the convention with a new reveal for IA :)

From what can be seen, the shelf directly below the IA stuff appears to be empty.

Most interesting...

The 'coming soon' indicates HotE isn't going to drop at gencon. Interesting that elite sentries are 10 (5) and elite clawdites are 6. Can't wait to see their stats/abilities

where did you get the info about eSentries cost?

It's in the picture gallery earlier in the thread

Last year at Gen Con they switched out the display immediately after the in-flight report to display everything they announced. So even if there aren't openings there's always hope :-)

Hope you guys have a great time at Gen Con!

Yeah, looks like there is plenty of room on that shelf below to display an App
