New Ship Idea: V-Wing Airspeeder

By GLEXOR, in X-Wing

I would love to see the V-wing airspeeder be incorporated into the game, however the only problem with that is that it's an airspeeder, similar to the Twin-pod Cloud Car and the T-47 Airspeeder. Unless they introduced any sort of ground assault or atmospheric expansion or retool of the game, it may be impossible. One idea however that could allow for the V-Wing to be incorporated right now is if they introduce the V-wing Speeder Transport, Model A as a ship which in-lore is capable of space flight and could have four V-Wing airspeeders docked to it.

Alpha-3 Nimbus -class V-wing starfighter

This is one I would like in the game.

Priorities. I mean I don't see anything indicating Airspeeders are coming. No Cloud Cars or T-47 or T-16 have even been discussed by Dev's from what I have seen so I expect they are not in the design space for X-wing.

That is a valid point. But my nostalgia is still repeating that Iron Man line.

Whoa, what are these links?

I think so, I created them in strange eons and thought they would be photos, I can't even fit my upgrades because they are "too big." Do you know how to convert them to a pic?

Afaird I don't. Sorry ?

I am familiar with this, but it's sol purpose is to transport these, so I opted to not include it, as it is not a combat vehicle, nor would it be a good candidate for a support piece.

Whilst it doesn't mention it anywhere, the transport could have some sort of armament, and maybe whilst the V-Wings are docked, the transport could operate their blasters to fire. The transport may not be entirely fit for combat, but neither would I say is the Rebel Transport or even the Lambda despite having some defensive capabilities. But unfortunately at this point, there's going to be an update needed for the game until any sort of airspeeders are introduced.

I'm not opposed to this ship. Maybe they could use it as the first epic ship to cost one epic point? But you can't scale it down, it has to be the same scale as the V-Wings that dock to it, meaning it would need to be roughly three and a quarter times as wide as the V-Wing models. To make it fit better in epic, they could even use the 8 speeder carrier to be more oblong. But it could be a large ship as the 4 or even the 6 carrier. Maybe two system slots? One crew? Who knows! They could do almost anything with it, as there is so little info on it. But fitting one of these and four V-wings to dock to it would be impossible unless it costs 26 or less, but all of them must be naked, and we don't want that.

Yes, the V-wing Speeder Transport, Model A as a one epic point ship I think is a sound idea to make up for its limited capabilities. I don't think the Model B 6 carrier variant would be considered seeing as no visual depiction of it currently exists, though it is possible that it may appear similar to the Model A just with 6 speeders docked.

I always imagined it as the same but longer. Wouldn't be that hard. And model A would just be one base, when every other epic ship is two. Would model A count? I don't even think model B could be long enough for two bases, even only a half a small base apart. But model C (8) would be the best candidate for an epic ship at 1/270 scale. A or B could both be large ships.

It would make sense that the model they choose would make a difference in maneuverability, so C could maneuver just like a lumbering capital ship, while the other two perform more reasonably.

I don't believe a model C ever existed, only models A and B.

According to the Dark Empire sourcebook, the Model A was 20 meters in length and the Model B at 27 meters. Now if you compare it to the Millennium Falcon which was 34.37 meters in length and the YT-2400 at 21 meters, I think both the Model A and B would only need one base.

Where do the extra V-Wings go? If it's only 7 meters longer, and the V-wings are over 7 meters, are the wings longer with the 5th and 6th V-Wings at next to the others rather than behind? If so, this would be soooo wide! But actually makes sense...

also, you were right about the non existence of model C. I thought I saw it in the article for the V-Wing, but I was mistaken.

Updated OP to 2.0.

Yeah time to get the original and still the best V-wing into x-wing.
