Where's the hammerhead corvette and ROtJ (Dornian/ Braha'tok) gunship, Joe? Those are the next logical ships for epic. I can just imagine outer rim patrol skirmishes at 600 pts. on each side taking all Saturday afternoon.

My friends and I played a 400 point epic... which lasted 9 hours. It would have gone on longer if we didn't need to stop at 2 AM to call it a night... which I'm find with since I was getting curb stomped. Seriously, the rebels need a second epic ship with some guns on it... my poor transport got picked off way in the beginning and my corvette's aft section got taken out soon after. I managed to blow away his Assault Cruiser right after he deployed the TIE Interceptors off the racks and I spent the rest of the game running and forcing his attackers out of arc to hit my corvette's fore section taking pot shots at his Raider with my range 4/5 guns on it every few turns.

Maybe a "prepare for hyperdrive!" house rule would help. Any ship trying to limp away from combat for 3 consecutive turns will automatically make a jump if it is more than range two from a asteroid.
That's not a bad one, but it's hard to determine if a ship is "limping away" or preparing for a final attack run before getting blown out of the sky. Besides, part of the reason the game went on for so long is after a while, we were both just rolling crap rolls consistently. It was still fun, but for about a half hour of rolling black attack dice, we ALMOST caved into buying the FFG dice app to see if the curse followed us into the digital world... I broke the curse by ionizing his Deci into a rock XD

This should only apply in any campaign that has the "if he's dead he's dead" rule, to save your aces. They would be counted as lost, but you can use them again.

The heck!? 9 hours at 400 points a side? I'd be really curious to see (a time lapsed!) view of that battle to figure out how you guys made that last so long without total destruction. Our 400 point games are decided within 3, total side elimination by 4 if we decide to take it that far. I'm certainly not saying you guys did anything wrong, more curious as to the tactics used to prolong things so much. Sounds like it would be very interesting.
Yeah, the Rebel cruisers aren't really a match for the Imperial ships in a stand up fight... but they have fun uses all the same. I'm still getting used to Corvette tactics... I've been using it more as a heavy artillery piece and keeping mobile to prevent being pinned down as long as possible. Haven't got my points worth yet, but heavy fire down range has certainly blunted several assaults now.
Well, one issue was we were playing the Epics wrong... and again... dice were an issue. It was a LOT of fun though and I want to give it another shot
