Avenger tactics stymied by a 2pt Ion upgrade. lol!

This IS a Tourney list Im working on so meta comparisons and critiques are appreciated.

What do you plan on exhausting with MS1's?

Upgrade cards that are not exhaust on use (Avenger/boarding troopers) will not be effected by that crit effect.

better to use the ion cannon that strips tokens to take away the squad token

Back to the Star Cruiser then. Bring back Slicer tools and an Ion. No extra protection for Leia. I guess she will just have to keep her distance.

Ill do you one better: my avenger brings vet captain. How does this fleet counter that?

Honestly the best counter to avenger is just shitswarms of hammerhead as BT means no gunnery teams. Just slam them all into the front arc and lock avenger up. Its janky but it works.

6 hammerheads designed for a single pass each, 1 red, 1 blue, 4 black. Should be good for 6 damage at least, and hopefully an acc. Average Avenger will need to kill 3 for an even trade, which is unlikely without GT.

The worst way to counter BT avenger is give it a big target to kill.

I said the exact same thing to a fiend of mine the other day except I said Hondo.:)

Putting Cham on one of those Hammerheads is probably a good idea too.

It would take some skill to pull it off but I think parking a Gozanti with Tua and ECM right in front of a BTAvenger might be a nice Imperial counter to it too. If Avenger's the only thing that can shoot it then he's out of the fight for 32 pts. Could also add Slicers and Suppressor for some extra kick.

Except if it gets boarded Avenger don't give a **** about tua/ECM

Then it worked out just fine. I would love to make them waste BTs on a Flotilla. Beats the h*** out of having one of my Vics or an Interdictor deleted from the board.

While I agree with the viewpoint, why give them 9 extra points with tua/ECM anyway? It's not like there's a huge chance of them getting a native acc with two blues and three reds, they will either have to board you or risk you most likely scattering

Solely due to personal experience. I play a lot of games against @ThatSlyBandit (he finally registered so I no longer have to refer to him as that guy I play the most:)) and he's a big fan of H9s. He puts that s*** on everything.

The guy who beat my a** Saturday was running BTAvenger with an ISD2 also so there were 4 reds and 4 blues so no problem generating a natural accuracy.

He also built it to 400 and went second. I've beaten BTAvenger before when I had First but man this time it was like every time he took a shot with it or his squads, my stuff vanished from the board. I don't think I've ever felt so over matched before but it was fun to see it in action.

As a avid lover of all things Liberty, there is no way I would fly it without Gunnery Teams. I am also a BIG supporter of the H9/Quad Turbolaser Cannons combo. They shut down defensive tokens like no other!

Its about the same effect as BT+avenger too :)

Just costs more points and a dice to use.

But you are gaining a dice with the Quad upgrade that can then be used with Leading Shots if you so choose. Against ships where I don't need accuracies and want more damage...it's like having Spinal Armaments in every arc.
