Melee and jousting challenges

By Hwij, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hail.. I have 3 questions. Two questions about challenges.

1) What is melee challenge?

2) What is jousting challenge?

And one question about attachments..

1) If i play an attachment to an opponent's character, then who is the owner of the attachment's text? e.q. Who is the one that will pay the cost to kneel that attachment?

Thanks....

"Melee" and "Jousting" are traits that challenges can gain through the effects of particular cards (from 5 years ago). None of them are legal in the LCG environment. They are entirely card-driven, so they are explained on the cards that create them and really don't mean anything without those cards.

You always "own" any card you bring to the game. Any you "control" any card you own, unless a card effect specifically changes control. Putting an attachment on a character does create an effect that changes control, so you control any attachment you play - no matter who controls the character - unless a card effect says otherwise.

You can only trigger effects on cards you control. And you can only use cards you control to pay the costs of effects. So if you put an attachment on my character, I cannot trigger anything on that attachment, or kneel the attachment to trigger some other effect. However, any passive effect the attachment has on the attached character is still affecting my character.

ktom meant to say "...does NOT create an effect that changes control,..."

Thanks for the answers.. I confused because i have a plot card "All eyes on the contest", with text: raise your claim value by 2 for the duration of jousting and melee challenges....

i.e, to be this card playable, i must have another card that enables a melee or jousting challenge?

Yep. For example
