Does the repositioning from tractor beam occur before tactician checks the range to target?

Quickly glancing at the Timing Chart in the FAQ makes me want to say that yes, you completely resolve the effects of tractor beam before tactician activates.

If your attack hits, you assign a tractor beam token, and if that's the first token, then the ship is moved. All this happens at the end of Step 6 "Compare Results" step.

Tactician triggers during step 8.

That certainly makes it easier to align tactician.

But there's only a couple ships that can equip that and a tractor beam, so...

5, if you count both the Imperial Firespray & Scum Firespray. Its nice as a control mechanic, but you'd be missing out on a fair bit of damage, unless the rest of your squad could really take advantage of that lowered agility.

Yeah. There's only two ships that can use tractor beam without sacrificing damage output, and neither of them have crew slots so...

Well, I guess you could gimmick it with Scum Firespray using Gunner and IG-88D crew. But then it's getting REALLY silly.

Note that for the Shadow Caster the tractor token and Tactician happen simultaneously so the player controlling them chooses the order to apply them.

Mist Hunter can also have TBeam and Tactician.

Shadow caster can't equip Tractor Beam.

The Mist Hunter is specifically the case that made me think of the combination and wonder though.

Sure, and so can the Quadjumper. But those weren't where I had the rules question to figure out.

Though yeah, that seems despicable to set up on Asaaj. Double stress and tractor in the mobile arc.
