Rey's Staff stats ?

By Rosco74, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Is this a commun staff or is it a special one? it seems made of iron of steel, but the shape is strange, suggesting some specific behavior.

Any stat already done for it?

Thanks

I would just treat it as a staff. It's a robust instrument used to beat people with, so I would find a good stated weapon and place it there. Rey never really used it in any ultra fancy way. Put a weighed head on it for extra impact.

Agreed. Looking at the one that came with the Black Series figure, I'd say it looks as unique as it does because she probably salvaged or assembled it from scrap.

Personally I'd just use the stats for a gaffi stick.

Sounds good, a basic gaffi stick with weighted head

thanks

Why would it have the Weighted Head attachment? That weapon has 0 hard points, and the basic form is plenty strong for a staff. It doesn't need to be a special snowflake hero weapon.

It has been described as a "salvaged quarterstaff" in TFA Visual Dictionary . In Rey's Survival Guide , it is explained that it could also be used as a probe, while scavenging in the desert.

I agree that fluffing a standard gaffi stick would be sufficient. Or even a training stick, if you would prefer for it to segue smoothly into later saber usage (evidently, it was an adequate training tool for Rey to pick up some basic saber techniques).

Another weapon that could be used to stat Rey's staff is the Staff of Command.

Take the stats for a club or truncheon, add +1 to damage and make it require two hands to wield, and possibly add the Linked 1 quality since it can strike with both ends. Should be plenty enough.

It is for a futur Jedi use, so I checked the Stick from Nexus of Power, but it does only Stun damage...

Where can I find the Staff of command? thanks

Stun damage is as good as real damage against everything bar Nemeses and even there many of them have lower Strain Thresholds than Wounds.

The Staff of office is in Desperate Allies, and is statistically similar to the gaffi stick.

There's the Heavy Staff in the Force Awakens Beginner Box Rulebook, Pg 37, described on page 35 as: "Any length of solid material can serve as a weapon in capable hands".

Stats are decent, runs with Melee but because it's beginner, it doesn't specify Wounds or Strain.

With one key difference. The Staff of Command actually has hard points for attachments.

Oki thanks a lot, can someone post the stats of the heavy staff from TFA beginner box? I think it is what I need.

The training stick is a walking aid, like Yoda use in the movies. I know stun is often more powerfull than standard damage, but we don't play the numbers. A 19 years old boy with a walking stick would be strange

Given the source, I'd be willing to bet that this is exactly what they have in mind for stats for Rey's staff.

I'd say either the gaffi stick from Edge of the Empire or the heavy staff from the Force Awakens Beginner Box would be the go-to for Rey's staff. While the authorial intent may have been to use the heavy staff, I prefer the gaffi stick as it's got a bit more punch to it as well as a rank of Defensive.

I'm AFB at the moment, but I think it did Brawn+1 Damage and was based off Melee. I mean, you could probably add things that make sense, like Defensive 1 for melee defence or similar.
