Ships for rebels?

Something that gives scum the edge in new ships is that the imperial and rebel fleets are limited in the range of ships they use. They send up squadrons and flotillas vs small bands and raiding parties composed of whatever flies. It's a big galaxy but the major players have budgets and contracts. A pirate, rogue, mercenary, or adventurer can make anything work

Lorewise nothing should give an edge to pirates over the empire. IF the empire cared enough about any pirate band, they would be destroyed. They should have no edge at all. Unlimited resources vs. finite resources. There is no question here

In any case, we've also got yet another A-Wing variant from 'Rebels' - the two-seat 'trainer' version.

That actually fits the bill for the R-22 Spearhead (nicknamed, "A-Wing), which is the basis on which the RZ-1 (also nicknamed, "A-wing") is built. The R-22 was less powerful, less shielded, and slower (duh) than the RZ-1, but had a two seater option, and was an older design. I think Pheonix squadron flies a mix of modified R-22s and prototype RZ-1s. They even reused the prototype RZ-1 paint scheme.

I agree with you from a lore perspective. I am referring to the FFG X-wing miniature game with a 100/6 format that balances the game to make it fair to both sides (yes, I know opinions vary on the fairness of the game). Scum has all sort of illicit upgrades and synergies from a wider variety of ships. Also, the points system roughly balances the game so even a tie swarm can't over match the other side.

Within the story, the empire should win the vast majority of engagements with superior numbers (I.e. the empire doesn't play a balanced game). My point is that scum has a wider variety of ships to choose from while the rebels and imperials are limited because of the volume of ships they need to fly. A pirate or smuggler can afford a tricked out custom ride. A squadron of x-wings is a much bigger investment that likely requires a supply chain to maintain. The OP was looking for new designs for a rebel fighter, which would be deployed in squadrons within the Star Wars story. That is getting harder to justify from a lore perspective. Not impossible, but harder with each release.

Raven Claw: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Raven's_Claw

-I can immagine a ship similar in stats to HWK-290 with a slightly better dial and a system slot

-One of the pilots or Crew could be Jaden Korr and Rosh Penin

-I don't like same pilot on multiple crafts but this would need new version of Kyle Katarn

T-85 X-Wing (for Resistence)

But yes, they could deffinatelly slow down the stream of new ships. And cards. And stuff...

I know that i'm about to say something crazy, but I would love to see X-83 TwinTail from old EU in this game. Awesome project of starfighter. Yeah, i know it's Galactil Alliance not Rebel, and it's about 130 years to the future, but still... it's awesome :D

X-83_Squadron.jpg

-Naboo Starfighter (don't cry)

-Phantom II (with a new title for an alternate Ghost build)

-Resistance A-wing

-Resistance Transport (I know its not the prettiest but it has some neat possibilities)

Those are all very likely in the next 3 waves. In three wave's time more ships will have been introduced to the lore by Rebels season 4 and Episode 8/Han Solo movie

I'm more concerned about the lack of TIE fighters left. The ones remaining are pretty goofy looking in my opinion. At least the Rebels(and scum i guess), who lack a unified aesthetic, can get whatever and it will fit pretty well.

Though to be fair I am in the opposite boat from you, I hate the EU designs most of the time, but love the prequels stuff most of the time.

Don't worry about TIEs, there are 4 main desings left from EU:

-Vanguard, Opressor, Hunter, Droid

And if you prefere new content, there are comming at least two FO TIEs:

-Silencer and Bomber/fo

And TIE Reaper from RO ofc.

None of those look good to me though...

The FO stuff is a given and I look forward to it. I'd enjoy the Reaper as well, though its niche seems filled by the Tie Shuttle title.

Those first four though... so ugly......

(i also find the Defender ugly though)

Tie Vanguard is a better variant of the tie scout, which sacrifices one of it's laser cannons for advanced technological systems. Not to mention the Vanguard looks BAD (older term for donkey), and the tie scout doesn't.

Edit: wait, I'm thinking of the TIE/r or TIE recon, not the Tie scout.
