Finn as the Main Character?

By Boom Owl, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I feel like Finn was the best most understandable character in the Force Awakens.

So does anyone else think the following would be possible:

1. Kylo - Does not convert to the Light Side. Remains evil and becomes a full on Sith.

2. Rey - Joins and replaces Kylo on the Dark Side after killing him or forcing him to be her apprentice.

3. Finn - Starts on the path towards becoming a Jedi in the final act of the Last Jedi and fights Rey in the 3rd movie. Open ended if Rey "redeems" herself.

I so badly want these new movies to treat Finn as the "main character".

The force awakens in Finn...not Rey she was already obviously born extremely powerful same for Kylo.

It would pit a scrappy resistance of Finn/Poe/Luke against an overwhelming force of Rey/Kylo/Snoke.

I don't think so. Finn was the comic relief of the film. He and BB8 were the replacements for C3PO and R2-D2, Finn be 3PO and BB8 being R2.

Finns upgrade card accurately reflects his use in the film. He's only any good with Rey around.

Finn as C3PO replacement. Accurate and terrible. But that moment when he can let behind the First Order and live a small life or became one of the Chosen Few. ..

I am not a big Finn fan. But I fall in love with "Joe the space trucker" from Rogue 1. I am not a fit and athletic guy. I can obtain consistent agrupations of hits with a .22 but mediocre eyesight. Not able to run 5 klicks without agonizing pain.

But I think that in a Dunkirk 1940 crisis I should be able to fulfill my duty. So I like Finn.

Finn is basically the role of the narrator, similar to C-3P0. Despite being the comic relief, he is also the most relatable as he sees things as most people would.

I could see Rey falling or getting close to falling to the darkside, only to be talked around by Finn. But I don't think we will see him go Jedi.

I'm keeping an open mind to the idea of Finn waking up loyal to the First Order and hiding it from the Resistance until he can betray them. OR he wakes up loyal to the Resistance, but later turns back to the First Order after something triggers a relapse of his childhood brainwashing.

Finn as a character doesn't make sense. He was brainwashed as a child to be a Stormtrooper, but then acts like he's never even been through a week of military training. He should act more like the unsullied Greyworm from GoT, then a slapstick goof ball.

Yeah. He makes no sense as a stormtrooper. They imply that they brain wash their troopers in training from childhood. Yet Finn acts like a freaked out pacifist who got snatched off the street, stuffed in a suit of armor, and handed a blaster. Plus why would Kylo be getting escorted by a bunch of rookie stormtroopers? You think his mission would be important enough to only send the experienced troopers on.

And you cant say that it was the blood that triggered some psychotic breakdown. He was freaking out before that other trooper got killed. He was scared to death while still in the landing shuttle.

He would have been better off as being some hardbitten soldier who has an attack of guilt after being ordered to shoot a bunch of civilians. He realizes the first order is evil, but isn't some weak kneed fraidycat.

Has anyone else read Before the Awakening ? The book does a lot for Poe and Rey. Finn on the other hand: his backstory in the book is so bad I want to glue the pages together to make sure my children never read it.
