First Order Foursome

By Browncoat50, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I don't fly imperial much, but when I do, I tend to fly first order.

So I have 2 slightly different variations of the same team and I can't decide what would work better at a tournament.

My constants on the team are:

Omega Leader: Juke Comm relay (26)

Backdraft: VI, title, fcs, lightweight frame (32)

Now for the other 2.

I run zeta leader with twin ion engine MKII, and either wired or snap shot.

If I go wired, I would field epsilon leader with weapon guidance system for added high level ACE or epsilon ACE for stress removal to complement zeta and go for a 99pt bid.

Snap shot zeta needs epsilon ACE to clear stress before the combat phase. So it would be a naked epsilon ACE for 100 pts.

I guess my main concerns are is snap shot a novelty and/or is wired a more sensible choice?

It doesn't really matter whether you pick Snap Shot or Wired. This squad simply does not have enough firepower to perform well in a tournament (even a small one). If you are dead-set on the First Order theme, I suggest more TIE/sf (good ship) and less TIE/fo (not so good ship). FCS is also very strong on any of the TIE/sf pilots, to the point where it is nearly 'auto-include'.

Zeta leader is a powerhouse for its points and i have done very well with backdraft recently. I am not a really omega leader kind of guy.

I usually run my zeta with juke, but wired should be good as well, not a huge fan of snapshot on him as your maneuvers are pretty locked in every turn (needing a green) so its harder to get into snap shot position.

  • Zeta +com +juke
  • Omega +com +juke
  • Backdraft +spec +lwf +Adapt
  • Epsilon ace

Thats what i would run if i was wanting only FO, 4 ships, and omega and backdraft.
