Imperial Setup for Hoth

By Firestorm42_, in Imperial Assault Campaign

I was curious if anyone had recommendations for the imperial agenda and class cards for the return to hoth campaign. I have so far failed to beat the rebels in the core set and twin shadows and was hoping I could get some advice as the imperial player.

I've been having fun and success with the Armored Onslaught deck.

As far as Agenda cards go, I've also picked up Armored Division that lets me deplete to reduce vehicle cost by three during a deployment, a deplete that allows me to have a leader focus a unit (or something along those lines) and I earned Weiss.

Weiss is more for flavor, though he's pretty beastly with my vehicle and leader upgrades, and is a little cheaper with Armored Division (but still pretty expensive).

The campaign naturally tilts to a lot more vehicle and droid play, and if you own all expansions, you'd also do well to make good use of Jet troopers, and the new BT1 and 000. If HotE comes out before your group starts, the Sentry droids also might be valuable.

Hoth is one of the easier campaigns for the rebels so you'll have your work cut out for you. If you haven't used it, try Military Might as it's a solid easy to use deck, and focus on giving Combat Veteran + Assault Armor to 3 figure deployment cards to maximize their benefit, and avoid Combat Medic and only take Riot Grenades if they have at least 2+ weak perception figures or are giving out focus a lot (so you can use up their focus with it.) For your influence deck focus on getting cards that stick around and have deplete or exhaust abilities. Things like Fire At Will combined with Show of Force from a trooper squad with Combat Veteran should allow you to wound out a hero with 1 activation.

For agenda decks, a few of them in the core that are extremely good:

  • Agents of the Empire for Imperial Informants, extra threat is really good
  • Imperial Industry for Restorative Supplies and Means of Production side mission (some say the reward is too strong but if you're struggling I say go for it. The mission is pretty tight for even experienced Rebels so you have a decent shot at winning the reward)
  • For the Right Price for High-Value Target, probably the best agenda card in the game including all expansions

I also like:

  • Imperial Discipline (Core) for Fire at Will, extra attacks can be handy
  • Nefarious Dealings (Hired Guns pack) for Final Blast, more extra attacks - really useful on any 3 dice attackers or to finish off a hero
  • Defensive Tactics (Return to Hoth) for Personal Shield Generators, useful when Verena is in the mix and you want to avoid/stop a Close Quarters chain reaction

Those are the six agenda sets I'm taking in the latest Hoth campaign that I just started, however, there are some other good decks out there such as:

  • Imperial Security Bureau (core) for Internal Affairs, don't underestimate low threat deployments which can help you maintain/gain the activation advantage
  • Punishing Tactics (Dengar pack) for Beaten Down
  • Bombardment (Sorin pack) for Armored Division which is great with Jet Troopers

We have played the Core campaign twice (I have lost as IP both times :( ), and are going to start Hoth soon as well. I think Military Might is a very strong class deck, but I like to change things up, so will probably take Armored Onslaught.

For agenda sets I am looking at this:

  1. Agents of the Empire
  2. Punishing Tactics (Dengar)
  3. Imperial Industry
  4. Imperial Discipline
  5. Grand Inquisitor
  6. For the Right Price

I have BT-1 and 0-0-0 so am considering swapping one of these sets for their set so I have the opportunity to earn them, but that is what I am looking at for now.
