I didn't see anything on when TI4 is expected to be released. Any info on that front?
Also, will there be any copies available at GenCon?
Thanks!

The bottom of the article says "fourth quarter of 2017," which of course means February 2018 when it comes to Fantasy Flight =P
Edited by DanthraxMore importantly - I have TI3 and all expansions - are expansion now part of TI4, or parts of them, or will we see similar 4e expansions later?
same time as Fallout 4....going to be an expensive February 2018

Looks like the new edition includes all of the races from the expansions, as well as flagships.
I do not see tank miniatures or any indication of mechanized units (or shock troops) though
17 Races seems to indicate they are all in there, and then some.
Flagships are there but I cant see any Tanks, I liked tanks.
For me the dealbreaker is the amount of systems. I want to see the huge variety of galaxies you could get from TI3 return, with grav-well and nebula planets, Tempesta and the other 2 tech planet, Hopes end and so on.
The reverse dealbreaker would be streamlining the game a little, I like the Scythe mechanic where the next player starts his turn halfway through the former's action, I'dd love some mechanics to further enable doing stuff during someone else's turn so that paying attention on and off your turn would be truly necessary and very rewarding.
Did I understand correctly that TI4 is released around October or at least some playable prototypes?

When 3rd edition released, there were advanced copies at Gen Con SoCal. I paid an online friend to pick up a copy and mail it to me, so I had the game months before most people. This was before FFG really did preview articles, so it was kind of fun doling out tidbits about the game to all the other salivating gamers around the world.
I was kind of hoping that they'd have some advanced copies here at Gen Con Indy in a few days, but I'm not holding my breath at all.

Will you post an update after Gen Con?
Yes, absolutely I will. I can't make it myself (this is the busiest time of the year in my business and it's all I can do not to have a panic attack, let alone spend 1-4 days playing games in another town) but I have multiple friends who are going... and who are tasked with buying me a copy if TI4 happens to be there!
Yeah, I don't expect there to be copies for sale this weekend, but they did say we could demo it at the booth, so they should have a couple sets there to at least look at.

That's how it was 12 years ago. Demo copy at Gen Con Indy, then advanced released happened at Gen Con SoCal which was in late fall or early winter, iirc. I'll see if I can have my friend take detailed pics of the components and boards.

So they are already print, and we can make no more suggestestions. Already found some points which need clarification/correction (e.g. 20.2 is for sure not intended as its written, because they do NOT want to limit the number of tokens, but to actually limit the commodity).
It will probably receive errata then. Stating that the tokens that count as 3 count as 3 tokens of the same type.
In case someone didnt read the last TI4 article on the website: The release date was moved.
It is not announced as fourth quarter of 2017, but as third 2017. That means: within the next 35 days!
I also drew attention to it. This is great news!
Now it says 4th quarter again in the latest news article. Someone must have written a typo, either now or in the last one which said 3rd quarter. Hmmm...
In two of the three articles it was said about the fourth quarter, apparently all the same wait in the fourth quarter. But maybe I'm wrong ...
