Empire at War spoilers from Tiny

Poe-Maz is IMHO overrated. First when they errata'd Fast Hands it meant Poe could not resolve his own die without mitigation. Also the correct attack on the deck is to kill Maz, which a lot of good aggro decks can consistently do on Turn 1. Poe-Maz also struggles against good Mill decks because Poe needs toys to throw at opponents and Mills take his toys away.

As to Lead By Example, it is actually pretty decent. It provides focus sides and lets you roll in a Support at the same time you roll in the character. Combine with the presence in EaW of cards designed to reduce the cost of playing Supports and you can see where they are headed with this.

Doesn't it win like 40% of tournaments or something?

Every competetive deck out there has to take poemaz into account or die to it.

At what point does it stop being "overrated"?

Do you also think FN2199 is "overcosted"?

Poe/Max win numbers are heavily skewed towards the beginning of the rotation; they have actually not won nearly that much lately. The deck is fairly simple to figure out, and once you do it's much more capable of being handled. Having said that, it's also extremely easy to play, so a lot of people pick it up and can play it well right out of the gate. That's another reason it was so prevalent earlier.

You could argue that Poe/Maz is tier 1.5 now, but I think it's still one of the better decks in the meta. It's just nowhere near the juggernaut it was when SoR first came out.

Our area has seen a decline of Poe/Maz not because it's any easier to deal with, but because players are sick of it. It's a dull deck to play, and play against, and as the season has gotten later and people have gotten their goodies they've been more willing to try other decks. Nobody has any illusions that it's somehow less capable than it used to be though.
